    People are a trip lol

Dude at the gym...good guy. He's 34, goes about 5'11 and 220. We've come to know each other over the course of the past 4 months since I joined this new gym. He seems intelligent, works as an EMT, and is dedicated to pumping iron. He's been kicking it now for about 6 years. He follows the game as we talked about the O, past bodybuilders, supplements and shit. I could tell he follows the game as he knew about some guys that many wouldn't know about had they not put their time in.

Now having said all that, he tells me he's trying to put on size. He mentioned that a few times since I've known him. He's somewhat got the LOOK of being in the bb game, with big arms and chest and decent back and delts. Legs need more work, but not so bad. But DAYUMMM, this nigga ain't got a CLUE about working out!

Give you a quick example...I'm doing back and he's doing arms. He's doing preacher curls. I do deads, bb rows, and just finishing up on t-bar rows...I KNOW a good 45 mins had passed at that point, as I rest alot between my heavy sets, mainly on deads. He's STILL doing preachers!lol I noticed in between my sets, he does a set of preachers, then goes and does a set of leg raises, then a set of roman chairs. He's basically staggering bi's with abs. I noticed he does that with EVERY bdpt...he ALWAYS staggers abs with EVERYTHING. And this dude is NOT fat..he's GOT abs.

So just for the hell and smell of it, I hit'em up and say "Dayum dawg how many sets of preachers you do mang?"lol. He says "Around 10". So anyways, longer story short, this dude spends like 3 hours in the gym, on arms, abs and cardio. Btw, let me not forget that he finishes EVERY w.o with 45 mins on the treadmill. We get talkin' later and he mentions about how he ain't putting on the size he wants. And I tell him "No offense, but you are going about adding size all wrong my man." I give him the scoop about how he's doing WAAAAAAY too much volume and needs to focus more on INTENSITY, shorter workouts, less sets, and busting ASS on the sets he does do, instead of merely pacing himself. I also told him to stop staggering abs and do abs solo and NOT so much of it. Told him to cut back on all the cardio, talked about diet, the whole get go. He did seem very knowlegabe about diet...says he's getting in about 8 meals ed, 350-400 g of protein ed, 700 g of carbs, healthy fats, talked about his pw drink, etc etc.

He seemed very intersted in all I was telling him. He thanked me, and seemed really enlightened to SEE THE LIGHT per se.lol Soooooo, I see him in the gym 3 days later, and he's doing legs. Did he make any adjustments after our conversation? HELL NO!lol This nigga is over on the leg press machine for an hour, staggering his abs just as usual between sets of leg presses.lmao Truly IS amazing to me a guy that follows the game, has a decent knowlege of diet, and yet is apparently HELLBENT on continuing his ritual of working out in his own non-results-producing-fashion even after someone thats a shitload bigger than him and been in the game much longer gives him solid advice.lol

I use to hit the gym with a buddy of mine. Kind of look at him as a mentor as he's got 15 years on me, and is pretty damn big. We'd hit it hard everytime in the gym, low sets, low reps, and very heavy. Now there was a couple guys up there that used to always ask us, how do you come in here for only 45 minutes, and you guys look bigger everytime i see you. Now these guys were in horrible shape, but would only do like 2 bodyparts. Biceps and chest lol. never once saw them do legs, back, shoulders etc. So one time one of them asked if he could work in with us, so we let him and he wouldn't even do the excercises. haha He'd be like i'll pass on that one guys, and then jump in and do one set with us on something else, and not finish. Then after he would run into the convenient store next to the gym and grab a bag of chips and salsa. I was like what's that for? He said he was going to eat that and go to bed. I was like, wtf dude, you need protein, but he didn't believe all that stuff about having to eat a lot of good food, to be in shape lol. The sad part is that he was there for like 7 years, and didn't grow a centimeter.

LOL! He wants to gain muscle size, so his "German Therapy" isn't the best approach. Like using using a toothpick to pound a nail in, when the hammer is right there collecting dust!
