This is probably the first time in my life I'd state this but I wouldn't want to take a year off to train at this point. My back knees and neck are shot and I have too much other stuff worth while to work on outside of my physique. i can get done pretty much what I want accomplished getting to the gym 5 days a week, eating clean and getting enough rest. If I had a year free I would probably work on starting a business or really putting an investment strategy to work.

A year off to train , with no financial limitations ?

I would go to the Caribbean Islands, climb palm trees, work on 12ou arm curls all day chase Iguana's and run up and down the beach ....
Bench press the small boats and eat goats ,iguanas and sea bass with occasional chicken when I can catch them

Depends if u want to only focus on training I would get an diet plan put together for all weight plateaus I plan to break.... Train most of the time in the gym weights stretches yoga posing .... And rest.... And then do a show.... Now life is more then that so I would recommend get a healthy diet set up and routine to hit the gym every day and set up some hobbies for other free time that could be anything that interests u or things u feel will improve ur life by focusing on

You may be surprised to find your results wouldn't be much different at all. As long as you can bust ass in the gym 4x per week, eat right and grab 6-8 hours of sleep a night, you're gtg. Trust me, been there done that when I retired. Freakier now than then, and working fulltime now, so.

I think this statement is true for most of us.

I don't know that a year of not working would be any different than what I accomplish now. It's only when I get into my 12-16 hour a day stretches like recently that my physique program suffers.

If I had a year off work I would focus that time on my investment hobbies.

Same here except you left out the part in between those things of screwing every hot island chick and tourist women.

Too many injuries to take a year off and work out more than I do now. Besides I'm too old to grow and I have been natural for 10 years now. All I want is to stay healthy.

John used to say that IF a frog had wings it wouldn't thump its ass when it hops.
