    DHT questions

    1. Isn't thinning hair from aas use due to the day binding to the hair follicles? If so, could you not take supplements to lower dht to prevent?
    2. If dht levels decline as we get older, how/why do men suffer from enlarged prostate as they age, since dht is responsible for affecting the prostate?
I really couldn't find an explanation (mechanism) as to how prostate enlarges as men age.

I know what it is but that doesn't really answer my questions.
    Thanks though.

Balding is 99% genetics. Prostate issues are caused by E2 not so much by dht although dht can contribute to enlargement of the prostate. Calias helps a great deal with prostate issues.

NO, 5 Alpha is the enzyme that converts test to estrogen. Block 5 alpha and you have less estrogen conversion on cycle.

Lifts I know you know this but 5 alpha reductase converts test to DHT.

To address the larger question, blocking 5 alpha reductase will only block DHT from test not any high affinity androgens. So taking stuff like masteron will not be effected at all by use of 5 alpha reductase DHT blockers. Same with stuff like tren and winstrol. Winstrol killed my hairline.

I'm not a science guy, just an old man who used to deal with enlarged prostate. Since I've increased my sexual encounters to three or more times a week I don't have issues with it any more.

No. With my wife I use viagra. With my others I don't need anything. I know, that's terrible to say, but true.

Cialis helps with prostate. So does viagra but not as much. I still haven't found a downside to Cialis other than the cost.it might even increase test and lower estrogen among other good things like more Androgen receptor and less estrogen receptor alpha. Take a look at this.

                        Abstract
                        PURPOSE:

Phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitor (PDE5i) tadalafil administration in men with erectile dysfunction is associated with increased testosterone/estradiol ratio, leading to hypothesize a potential increased effect of androgen action on target tissues. We aimed to characterize, in a cellular model system in vitro, the potential modulation of aromatase and sex steroid hormone receptors upon exposure to tadalafil (TAD).
                        METHODS:

Human osteoblast-like cells SAOS-2 were chosen as an in vitro model system since osteoblasts are target of steroid hormones. Cells were tested for viability upon TAD exposure, which increased cell proliferation. Then, cells were treated with/without TAD for several times to evaluate potential modulation in PDE5, aromatase (ARO), androgen (AR) and estrogen (ER) receptor expression.
                        RESULTS:

Osteoblasts express significant levels of both PDE5 mRNA and protein. Exposure of cells to increasing concentrations of TAD (10(-8)-10(-7) M) decreased PDE5 mRNA and protein expression. Also, TAD inhibited ARO mRNA and protein expression leading to an increase in testosterone levels in the supernatants. Interestingly, TAD increased total AR mRNA and protein expression and decreased ERα, with an increased ratio of AR/ER, suggesting preferential androgenic vs estrogenic pathway activation.
                        CONCLUSIONS:

Our results demonstrate for the first time that TAD decreases ARO expression and increases AR protein expression in human SAOS-2, strongly suggesting a new control of steroid hormones pathway by PDE5i. These findings might represent the first evidence of translational actions of PDE5i on AR, which leads to hypothesize a growing relevance of this molecule in men with prostate cancer long-term treated with TAD for sexual rehabilitation.

                            I prefer 10-20mgs daily.
