    umbilical surgery tomorrow

Wish me luck. I have a shit ton of work going on and my back is causing me a lot of grief all of a sudden and tomorrow I have surgery.

I am praying for a full and quick recovery.

Anyone else already had this? How long was recovery? I am getting some wide ranging stories.
The older I get the better I used to be.

Let me know how it goes. With all my other stuff going on I'll probably hit my deductible max. If that happens I'll get all my stuff taken care of this year, including my umbilical hernia.

I actually just had a hernia fixed 5 weeks ago! You can see it in my avitar. It’s just above my bellybutton. My wife has had an umbilical one fixed. My hernia was very small. I was on a cruise and it’s slow at work and my back was in a bad place at the time as well and could use the break from gym. It was painful for maybe 2 days. Then only certain things would make it hurt. Hurt if I pushed on it or flexed my abs. One thing that sucked was the Anesthesia constipated me and it hurt real bad having to push! So get some stool softener to be on safe side man! After about three weeks it only hurt when I overdid it. Dr said I could go back to gym after two weeks but very very light. I still can’t go heavy without it hurting. He basically told me if it hurts the next day I went too hard. Only been going 2-3 times a week just so I don’t fall out of it. Plus I need the gym. Anyways, I actually hit it pretty hard yesterday and no pain today at all. I’m getting excited cause it’s been like 5 mo this since last blast. I’m itching! So keep in mind my hernia was very small. Dr said it was the smallest he had ever fixed. I just wanted it taken care of before it got worse. Plus my bodyfat is very low right now and it made me very self conscious. No way I would have taken my shirt off this summer if I had not fixed it. Also. I was back to work in 5 days. Was sopposed to be a week but I was out of sick and vacation days and couldn’t afford to take off more. I was fine though. Light duty for two weeks. My wife was back to work in 3 days. Lol. She’s crazy though. Lol. Oh yeah, almost forgot. I did use 4ius hgh. 2ius twice a day injected right next to hernia. Did this for first two weeks then dropped to 2ius ed. I do think it helped speed recovery. Next week(6weeks after surgery) I should be back to lifting heavy again in the gym. Good luck with your surgery and recovery man. It’s really not that bad.

Had an umbilical fixed in 2007, along with Gyno surgery. Then another one about 1/2" above the umbilical fixed in 2016, along with my gallbladder removal.

None of those surgeries were painful at all for me...almost pain free. There was some discomfort, like kluso mentioned, in regards to the constipation.

I'm the type that if you give me pain pills, i'm gonna use the fuckers...but they weren't needed, so I took them just to feel good...which didn't help the bowel movements...but I wanted to feel good anyway. LOL.

It went very well. I haven't had much pain at all. I am in the BMJ camp. I could have gotten by without the Norco but thought I would use them anyway (and some stool softener} The first pain I am having is tonite. I have had the hiccups for nearly an hour. I am weird with hiccups. If I catch the first one and relax the don't develop. If I don't beat it, I can have them for hours and they often reoccur for days. Perfect timing. I thought the Norco might relax it but so far no. Hiccup get real old have about 20 minutes.

I think it might be time to add more pain med to see if I can still the damn episode.

All in all I would say it is not a big deal to have the surgery and I would advise Rough to get it done. Especially if my Dr. did not exaggerate and tell me that it can be very serious if it gets pinched. I don't want to try on a colostomy bag for size. He said if I ever had pain at the hernia site to drive immediately to ER. That made me think it might be wise to fix it.

Thanks for the advice and well wishes brothers.

Hopefully you don't get hiccups! I have been hiccuping for hours on end periodically since I got hope. It is getting extremely painful. WTH? I haven't had a bout like this in ages. Damn. Hiccups bringing a grown man to his knees.

I got up in the middle of the night to cut a lemon and squeeze it in my mouth and it worked for a while. Then couple hours later.....

Still have the hiccups. They are now painful. I am wondering if a muscle relaxer mind help but I am taking Norco. That might not be a good combo. I got them to briefly stop with a squeeze of lemon but that only lasted a couple hours and then I woke up with hiccups again. Non stop ever since. I have tried everything on the net.

Get drunk. Keep drinking until you puke. You'll forget all about your hiccups.

I used to take Norco's and Soma's together rather than drinking when I was younger. Not promoting it, but if the dose is low, you will just get more tired. I'm not sure if it will help with hiccups though. If it were me, i'd do it, but I am not like most people and I have never been addicted to downers, even when I was taking a lot of them back in the day. I could stop any time I wanted to and not feel addicted like I needed them. We used to go down to TJ and get the 500 pill bottles of Soma's for like $40-50.00, and then sell them for $1-2 per tab<------not promoting that either. We'd buy dozens and dozens and between 1-200 bottles per trip.

Anyway...i'd give it a try if it were me...but i'm also not a doctor either

I mention all this mainly because of the stress you are in with it bothering you, otherwise, I would not promote you to do it...BUT I WOULD lol.
