    Colon bleeding just tested

I had blood-streaked stool two years now. I thought it was as a result of a few minor car accidents several years ago. No blood on the outside but stool streaked with blood. I had the colonoscopy done on Monday. Stage III Colon Cancer with a tumor (Mucinous Adenocarcinoma). Said to schedule surgury ASAP. Not good. Best chance is to remove a section and hope it doesn’t spread. Unfortunately the "Mucinous Type" deflects chemotherapy, so it's ineffective. Sigmoid colon cancer was my diagnosis. The Doctor said I probably won't need a bag. Appointment with surgeon 12/28, by then the biopsies will be in. Surgery in Jan. I’m the only one in my family with colon issues. Should’ve had it checked 15 years ago. They recommend getting one around age 40. Can’t believe how I watched my diet for years. My Dad, 2 sisters and brother all had polyps removed. I guess they can turn into cancer.

It answers a lot of questions. I've had cold sweats for over two years; sometimes changing my shirt five times a night. I've got a lot of blood in my stool today; at least now I know what I'm looking at. I should probably try to get some life insurance. It would be nice to give a little more of an edge to my kids.

I was hoping to inherit the longevity of my Mom’s Dad, not mine. My bother and his wife bought a house in Florida; between Tampa and Ft. Myers. He said, “It’s a three bedroom and they will be there until April and I’m welcome to come down if I want.” I need my girls near me. My 20-year-old daughter comes home from college tomorrow my youngest is 15. Had a phone job interview today working in a lab working with medical devices. my energy level is extremely low. I might get to start in January; it’s Thursday 4 PM to 2 AM (Thursday through Sunday).

Enjoy your Christmas, life is precious, family rules!

I am always sorry to hear a negative diagnosis. Not needing a bag does sound positive.

You won't be able to get Life Insurance that will cover death by cancer of any sort and if you could get someone to insure you it will be crazy expensive for other causes. We are at that age where the price start rising rapidly anyway. I remember when they gave it away when we were young men.

I pray for a positive and successful outcome and recovery. You need to keep in mind the enormous affect one's outlook plays on cancer. My neighbor lady had colon cancer diagnosed 11 years ago. At that time they gave her a year to live. She is in her 80s now. She scoffs at Covid saying "I was supposed to be dead a decade ago, I am not going stop living now." Cancer treatment is improving by the day. If you have to be diagnosed today is a better time than ever before.

    Godspeed, and be well.
The older I get the better I used to be.

Your strong brother so you should make it through the ordeal with a good chance to lead a normal life. A friend of mine a few years older had colon cancer several years ago. They removed a portion of his colon, he doesn't need a bag but he says he has to take a dump more often than before. btw he was stage III also.

My surgery is scheduled for 1/19/21. The Doc will cut from my belly-button to my pelvic bone to open me up; remove the damaged colon, staple the colon back together, then remove nearby lymph nodes to send out to biopsy for cancer. About 7 days in the Hospital. Plus two additional weeks for recovery, if (big if) there is no infection. He’s been doing these for 30 years. The lymph node biopsies take about 7-10 days. If I can avoid infection and the lymph nodes are not canerous; prognosis is good. I am tired a lot but generally feel good. My red blood cell count is high; around 17, which is good for pressure and volume. No juice in 6 weeks but I may take 2cc of sustenon (organon amps) in the next 2 weeks to make sure blood volume is high and nitrogen is elevated. Had test checked 10 days ago and it was 435 so it’s ok for a 61 year old. I plan on walking a few miles a day the next 3 weeks; weigh 255 now, try to drop 5 more. Enjoyed playing street hockey with my 15 year old daughter this evening. Maybe walk with her this week. She’s a sweetheart, always nice to “Good Ol’ Dad! Fun stuff. That’s my plan; simple, steady, forward.

It is a good thing you dropped all that extra weight. That should aid in your recovery. Also make the Drs job a little easier.

Damn I'm so sorry to hear this.
My dr at the plant I work at told me around Aug during our yearly physical that he wants me to get a full colonoscopy and prostate exam, especially at 53. I'm a huge procrastinator always planning on doing it but never "find the time", conveniently always something else going on but after reading this I know I gotta man up and just get it done.
My prayers are with you and your family, whether you believe in God or not I'll still pray it all works out for you. 61 is too young to go, especially with kids plus just the knowledge you have on what we do or attempt to try with the whole brotherhood from routines to the chemical side...many of us look forward to your posts. Keep strong brother, you'll pull thru from this muck and mire. Tis' a mere speedbump for a true warrior like yourself.
Please keep us notified and I'm sure you can hit any one of us up via pm and just vent, bullshit, let it out.

                        Sucks to hear this.

We all think “never going to happen to me”

I’ve told my doctor that I want this done and he tells me I’m too young. My dad had non cancerous polyps removed at 3 different colonoscopies, so it’s not too early in my case.

My doctor wants to have me do the poop in a bag test because he thinks that’s all I need right now.

I know I have hemorrhoids and yes that’s a lot to do with lifting heavy shit for 25 years now.

Good luck man and speedy recovery
