    "pop" did my lats !

    frenchbb here !

today was my heaviest planify deadlifts session , after fifteen weeks of slowly preparing my body with regular increase on the deads , abs work , sldl , good morning , stretching .... everything to bring myself ready to do it safely !

450 on the bar , headphones on , no belt ( never use it ), straps tights
the bar raise easily , but , midway , i feel a pop on my armpit left lats insertion , where the triceps and the lats meet , as if a rubber band snapped !
i drop the bar , and now , i can barely raise my arm overhead , and , at the insertion , a small " hole " , as if a piece is missing !
a small tear i guess , but , no bruise for now !

i am frustated because i have done over 500 in the past , before being diagnosed hiv , and , it is the second time i hurt myself on this ex ( last time , same thing on the right hamstring , big bruise for 2 weeks )!
it is like the hiv meds made my tissues weaker , more prone to tear ! i had the same accident on a smith flat press too !

maybe that my power days are over !

fucking sickness wont bring me down !

Sounds like the same type of tear that my buddy suffered. We were doing t-bar rows, old school style bar in the corner, and he explained the same feeling. His lat and armpit had bruising for the next few weeks and he was unable to train back for about weeks.. Just try to work through it bro and maybe you are going to have to start changing your training around, but you can still have intensity and even with lighter weights you should still make solid gains.

yes , i will have to adapt !
luckily i was at the end of my high intensity phase , so , i will back down intensity for the next few weeks .

if i let my arm hanging to my side , i have a hard time to raise it , so i am walking around hand on my head ! it is hurting a bit , but , actually feel good , as a good stretch on a tight muscle !
i don't know how i will be tommorrow when waking up ? !

i want to get back where i was before being diagnosed hiv and i will !

i just like so much the adrenaline rush and power feeling i get when i raise slowly the bar from the floor , you know , when you see the bar bending in the middle before the plates leave the floor !

Sounds like you are in a good frame of mind to accomplish whatever you set your mind too. I know what you mean about lifting heavy weights, I had my neck fused last year and I am still coming back from it.

the mobility is back , but , if i bent over to pick up something from the floor , the pull on the lats is painfull !

i have a small gap where the lats and triceps meet , very , very light bruising , so , i will see next week how it goes ! hope to be able to deadlifts again !

when looking at anatomy chart , it seems that it is a tear of the teres major !
the fact that an adduction of my arm is painfull , when done against resistance seems to confirm !

i will certainly go to see a doc next week , just to know exactly what i have done , then , i will be able to set up a new plan to go through that !

Use ice and go to a doctor like Deacon suggested.

I'm nursing a patially torn brachiordalis tendon/muscle and it take a long time to get over these things. Muscle is much faster than tendon because tendons have a lower blood supply.

DECA and TEST will help in the recovery process along with ice.

                          a little update !

                          frenchbb here !

went to see the doc , who confirmed a tear , but think it is a lat tear , me , that it is the teres major , next week , i will do an scan to determine what it is exactly !

did a back workout , i am able to do only rowing motion on a machine , with wide or close grip , so , not bad !
cannot do barbell / dumbell rows , deadlifts of course !

the doc said it is ok to train , just to listen to my body to find out what i can do !

the best form of rehab there is - is to continue training light and listening to your body - no loss of motion that way for the future
