    A1's 19/20 Rehab Odysee log

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Figured I'd log a bit. I find keeping a lod really focusses me and will probably need it. Last spring I ripped the left rotator in three spots and cracked the socket as the Humerous rammed into the joint. was a softball coaching accident in soggy conditions ( I guess I showed them how NOT to round third).

The rehab for this went well and is on going with my lifts in the upper movement range going from labored at 0 weight to me returning to about 40% of previous PR loads. So don't laugh at my pink dumbbells please...

The next issue is a full knee replacement on the left side this feb. I have been in an brace since November. There is no cartilage left in the knee, the leg is bowing out, and stairs and down hill grades make the knee push out even further so much so that the two raised nobs in the joint which grow upward from the Tibia are ground mostly flat. The surgeon is worried that the femur is showing signs of fracturing. I was hoping to put surgery off until I'm sixty but the cracking means I go now instead. I'll post up the x ray later.

So I will log my rather light weight work outs starting tomorrow and log through the rehab.... Thanks for reading!

I went through the pink dumbells with my shoulders. I never will hit 100%, but I'm improving slowly.

Had the three hour joint class yesterday. I was easily the youngest in there by 20 years... an old marine vet (judging from his lid) an I were talking, he was 88 and this was going to be his third. He was a huge source of info for me. Set me at ease on a number of things, was good to meet Stan, still a marine at heart too, looked like he could still kick my ass...lol

Anyway, my one big take away is that these things should come with a pre class test to separate the people.... one of the things which they laid out that was important to a good outcome was hygiene, instructors handed out special soap, gave details and were very specific repeating it at least 3 times that you were to shower before bed, sleep on fresh clean sheets, discourage animals in bed, shower again before you leave for hospital, put on clean fresh cloths..... 3 effin times... and the first question and I quote " so are we supposed to shower at night and the morning of surgery? " AAAAHHHHHH.... and the questions went on for 10 minutes.

Sage ole Stan says " now son, you may as well relax, some people just take longer to digest"...lol

My shoulder is actually superior to the shoulder than didn't have surgery. I am right hand dominant and it was my right shoulder so that has something to do with it I am sure. My last MRI and left my doctor amazed at the rapid healing and how it appeared. He said "it was absolutely beautiful" Hell, I was just happy not to be in constant pain all the time. Arthritis, bone spur, torn tendon and rotator cuff added up to a need for surgery.

I did use a lot of bcp 157 and tb 500 for a couple months after the surgery. I do believe if you get quality stuff it really helps. There are more and more studies on bcp.
The older I get the better I used to be.

I had some this morning.... you'd have to ask the wifey if my abilities are diminished...

I think I'm pushing harder from the right side but she might like the change in angle....

                          Today's weight 205.2

so I'm lighter that's gotta be good. workouts have been switched to a circuit style, light loads for three sets of 20 done in round robin style trying to get the heart rate up yet doing everything from seated positions... Hoping to be able to keep it up even while healing. Once I have the Op I'm gonna try not to waist away or pack on squish..

so this am was. seated db presses, overhead lat pulls, seated hammer curls, seated rows (might need to give these up) side delt raises, shrugs

managed to gather everything I needed and never needed to leave the seat.

I'll set up the second bench for chest and tri's
