I have tendonitis in both elbows from being young and dumb lol. Basically I got on cycles and was lifting waaaay too heavy too soon for my joints and now I am paying the price. I was wondering what you guys reccommend for this. I have been taking glucosamine chondrotin and I even have this cream that has msm to rub on them. I have some braces that I am going to start wearing as well. I havent been in the gym for about two weeks because I was trying to take some time off to let it heal up a bit but then I realized that I lift alot at my job which aggravates it too. I also take ibuprofen and naproxen to help with inflamation. I know cortisone shots are an option but I am hoping that is a last resort. Any advice is appreciated.

I injured my elbows on my first cycle. I cant do skullcrushers at all.
Take Knox Nutra joint which is basically gelatin and the medical community has known for years that powdered animal cartiledge helps heal knees and other joints.
Try taking 5-6 tbsn flax oil each day. Calorie dense, but will relieve joint inflammation in elbows, knees and rotator cuff faster than anything else. But the best glucosamine capsule on the market is Beverly joint care. Joint Care contains Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM, as well as Vit C & E, manganese, boron, and evening primrose oil, which is now being praised as a wonder supp for sore joints. These come in big gel caps, and seem to work far better on rotator cuff and elbow soreness than any other glusamine supp I've tried. 3 capsules contain 1000mg Glucosamine sulfate.
I have found flax oil even more important than glucosamine for sore joints and tendons. Ever since Lakeville Thor convinced me to try 5 tbs per day, my elbows and rotator cuffs have been pain-free. Works like magic, and effects are noticeable soon after you start taking it. Plus, there are a multitude of nutritional benefits to be found in flax oil. I now take 4 Joint Care a day and 3-4 tbs flax as a maintenance dose.
Below is a post from Andrew Thorssen at BB.com. He is an abnormally strong young powerlifter and often rails against the norm...but he's usually right.

I am going to cut through the bullshit here. Literally EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT I HAVE TOLD TO TAKE FLAX OIL AT 5 TABLESPOONS DAILY HAS COMPLTELY GOTTEN RID OF THEIR JOINT PAIN (this is about 25 people)!!! In addition, to again reiterate my point, for the last week I intentionally did not take any flaxseed oil at my normal dose of 5-7 tablespoons daily. Guess what? I could hardly squat yesterday because my joints hurt so bad. I also lost 4 pounds. I bet within a week they will be feeling great again due to the lubricating oil.
Two of the success stories will follow:
My mother in law (well, basically) has fibromyalgia and diabetes. Her joint pain has gone down significantly since she started taking flaxseed oil (3 tablespoons for her).
Also, my buddy George who I lift with when I am in MN hasn't been able to squat for 5 years (he's 41) - he is 5'10'', 265. I would say he's around 13% bf - a freakshow no doubt. ANyway, since he started taking flaxseed oil at my doses, he is squating again.
Seriously people, I am not lying about this. Try it if you have joint pain.

Below is a quote from a chiropractor on staff at Animal's board..

lignans inhibit prostaglandin synthesis before the COX 2, LOX can create E2, thromboxane, and other meanies .
Lignans are a nice safe anti inflammatory.
Glucosamine sulfate like i stated elsewhere seems to work well for 60% of the users on a dose of 1500mg per day.
I dont encourage anyone to take less than this however, and sometimes more is better.
chondroitin is a chain of glucosamine molecules. MSM is essentially DMSO, manganese is critical for ligament and disc rebuilding. (i take 50mg every so often)
Ideally someone could whip out a batch of glucosamine sulftate/ pentosan injectable and you could simply inject it twice per month.
that would be wonderfull.
powerlifters of all people need to understand that your body is much like the front end of a car.
when the front end is misaligned the tires ( your joints) break down much faster than a normal.
flax oil or not, if you are misaligned the joint will destroy itself much faster. its mechanics.Last edited by John Benz; 11-11-2010, 12:31 AM.Comment

The court of last resort is Adequan, developed to repair joint cartilage in horses. Only available for VET use and hard to find, but it's worth the search. I have a female friend 28 yrs old vet tech who had 2 torn rotator cuffs and was ready for surgery until the vet gave her a shot in each shoulder. She told me she felt like superwoman for nearly 6 months and although some of the pain returned, it has never again been bad enough to consider surgery.
My 14 year old dog was in so much pain with arthritis this time in Sept '07, that she wouldn't eat, was puking and I had to carry her outside to potty. My vet said it was a pain incident and he could feel where a disk used to exist at the L-6 location. 24 hrs after a shot of Adequan, I had to keep her from jumping up and down off the couch. 12 months later, she was still running and jumping nearly as well as when she was a puppy.Comment

Thanks for the reply jb. I take 3-4 fish oil pills a day and 3 osteo biflex pills and now I have this cream that is supposed to help. I am going to start wearing the braces when I lft and definitely look in to the flax oil. This is horrible because it really is hindering all of my lifts. I looked up the adequacy and it seems they do sell the canine version online.Comment

Knox gelatin 2-4 packs ed with vitamin C. You should start feeling some relief in about two weeks.
You can Google this as there has been a lot of medical research.ADMIN/OWNER@Peak-MuscleComment

If you can afford it, take a tablespoon of fish oil twice a day until the elbow pain subsides. The capsules are okay for maintenance, but not potent enough to help tendonitis. Also replace your Osteo-Biflex with the Beverly Joint Care and take about 10 capsules spaced throughout the day. Use the Knox gelatin and vitamin C like Lifts said. If you can't afford the fish oil, the Flax works nearly as well and tastes better.Comment

Mix the knox in any liquid. Flax is a poor choice it is omega6, in order to work it has to be converted to omega 3. Your body is only able to convert about 15% of the O6 to O3 leaving an abundance of O6 in the body which has been linked to prostate cancer and possibly may increase risk or other cancers. Take note JB, flax oil does not provide the benefit we once thought, myself included.ADMIN/OWNER@Peak-MuscleComment

Except serving size is there a difference in the ingredients between capsules and liquid?
This thing here
180 capsules for $15.39 at 684 mg of omega3's per capsule
This thing here http://www.nordicnaturals.com/en/Pro...8/?ProdID=1431
has a whopping 3200mg omega'3 per teaspoon 24 servings for $42
So 5 kirkland capsules equals 1 teaspoon of nordic naturals as far as mg's of omega 3.
So if you want to take 3200mg's of omega 3 per day, kirkland gel's will give you 36 days for $15, nordic naturals will get you 24 days for $42.
Now unless there is a difference between the quality of the omega 3, in both cases the amount of fish oil and omega3's are the same. So how is one for maintenance, the other for healing?Comment

Good luck to you dude, I had tendinitis or something similar to it on one arm, did not do anything about it, or used any supplements and suffered from it for about 2 years...Comment
