Called my son today, his mother was diagnosed with lung cancer last October and has been getting chemo every other week since. Now he told me she broke her back, wow.
I didn't press for details as he is only 12 and seemed a bit quiet.
Maybe the chemo caused her calcium levels to drop significantly. She has an 18 year old daughter parallized from the waist down that she lifts to the table several times a day to catherize.
Damn, don't know what to say.
In November I told him to spend as much time with her as possible. Didn't want to seem harsh, but my dad died of lung cancer and it took him in 4 months. I told him that. I can be the cold voice of reality sometimes.
This is difficult, but it makes me realize how lucky I am to be healthy.
I may be old, grumpy, and pissed off most of the time, but I was still able to shovel snow for seven hours on Wednesday, so I guess at 50, that's not so bad. Peace.
Jeez, 4:22 AM, I gotta get some sleep...
