    Laptops

Time has come to look for a new laptop. Any help would be appreciated, folks!

I know that Dell isn't worth buying and that Lenovo would be a good choice. What else?

What are u using it for?

If you dont need it to run any special programs, include a bluray player or play games any laptop will work, including a dell, especially the new ones

hell when I think about it i do so little on my laptop ill most likely end up getting an ipad next month

I don't do a lot on my laptop either except surfing the boards, chatting and sometimes watching a movie.

I went to Best Buy earlier and spotted 2 Toshiba's, one is very light (3.3lbs) with a 13" screen but no DVD player and the other one is bigger (15" screen) and a DVD player. Both are between 529 and 579$ (cheaper than in my country). I haven't made a decision yet, I hope that my ACER is gonna last a little longer (until August when I travel back to the US and will go on a shopping trip in NYC).

One of my friends gave my daughter Sarah an old IBM thinkpad with a charging carriage and she uses it the same way and loves it. But when she needs anything serious done, she runs for my MAC. I've had everything, and once you own a Mac you'll never look at anything else.

Toshiba has recently been rated as the second most reliable laptop out right now behind Mac by several mags. (Consumer Reports, PC World, Computer Mag).

Dell still holds the best customer service however but if the computer is reliable hopefully you won't need customer service.

Yes, it seems that DELL's are not built to last but that Toshiba's are very reliable!

well i have had a dell 1525, my gf has a dell 1525, and her mom has a dell and its a 1500 series too but i forgot the exact number....they play games and all kinds of stuff and are constantly downloading stuff but they have never had any probs with theirs, nor have I. i think its just a matter of how u treat the computer--regardless you should get whatever u want bc otherwise u will never be happy. all of our dells were under 500$

I've justbought an Acer Aspire One, 10.1" netbook, 1G memory, 160G SSD drive, 1.6mHz Intel Atom processor. £269.

It's light and easy to carry and has a 7 hour battery, ideal for when I'm travelling or running courses, I just use it for surfing, writing or power points.

I have an ASUS netbook that I carry with me every time I'm travelling but I need a bigger laptop for home.
