Help Me Out With Back Pumps
So I work legs and back a lot. Call me influenced by power lifting.
Thing is, when I'm on, my back pumps can kill with this kind of workload. Good mornings, back squats, front squats, reverse hypers... even doing split squats after any of these lifts is just killer. I'm off right now, but I just finished 3 sets of reverse hypers and my back is going to explode. I'd never be able to do this on cycle the way things are. I'm going to dose up the taurine like never before come next cycle, but I'd love to hear everyone's strategy for dealing with this. I run long esters, but no orals, and still this gets debilitating. |

You are on the right track with taurine. 6g split up 3 times a day would be a good start.

Taurine is good at 6 grams, stretch your hamstrings.

Taurine for sure. But because your spine is sandwiched between loads of muscle, once your muscles start getting pumped nothing is going to help completely.
Just wait until you hit your 50's or 60's and have compressed discs, padding wear and tear, etc. It's going to be so much fun for you! |

If you haven't been off for long it could still be the effects of the last cycle, which means it should subside if you stay off. Other than that, like others state, Taurine (and potassium), and stretching.

When I mentioned that my back was going to explode from the reverse hypers, it's just because the exercise is very taxing on the low back.
There may be something to Louis's assertion that it's restorative, though, because the next day it wasn't as terrible as I'd figured it'd be. |

Okay, so how long do I wait for the taurine to do its magic before I give up altogether?

Okay, what the FUUUUUCK?
My back pumps are getting so bad, with such minimal leg work at this point (and it was days ago), that I'm going to have to quit everything if I don't get this figured out. There's no point to taking stuff if you can't work out. Or, you know, walk. I stretch, more than most people. I drink so much water all I do is piss all day. I eat 2-3 bananas a day. I take a big calcium pill at night. I'm at like, at least 25g taurine a day. I consume very little sodium... whatever comes in the eggs that I don't salt. There is no improvement. I should also mention that when trying to deal with this in the past, I tried a super expensive massage chair massage, which usually feels great, and it crippled me. Not during, but the moment I stood up. Massage, increase blood flow, NOT GOOD. I can only think of two more possibilities: 1- my RBC is high and is causing this. 2- I need to switch to all short esters for less bloat. Is it worth doing a blood count? Does anyone have experience of back pumps (due to water retention?) from long vs short esters? I don't wanna quit... Last edited by BrutalHoney; 01-19-2017 at 11:17 PM.. |

i've done about 15mg cialis once, ever, but this has gone on long before and after that. in fact, it's been a problem over several cycles now, it's just getting worse. (i don't understand how these power lifters do it.)
thanks for the heads up though, very good to know. |

On non-back days I would do seated rowing for 15 minutes prior to working out. I would go steady for 45 seconds then try to pull 20 reps the last 15 seconds each minute. Gave me a great stretch and my V was never better. Did that up to 3 times a week, just not on back day.

I think I've solved it. 5-6 times a day (maybe less now that it's getting better), 4-5g taurine and a tums. For me it has to be both. Calcium capsules didn't work. Had to be the tums. It's down to manageable levels.
