I've decided to start a thread here to review all of the product samples I got at the 2006 Mr. Olympia Expo.
Here is a pic of all of the samples:
Today I decided to try some of the BSN protein product Synthra-6. It is listed as "An ultra premium sustained release protein powder". 23g of protein per pouch. I poured 2 pouches in a regular sized cup and added some water - the stuff mixed almost before I stirred it! Very impressive for a protein blend. The chocolate flavor was really tasty. Great product, I would buy it I wasn't a die-hard TrueProtein fan. I've got 2 packages of the Vanilla flavor and 2 packages of the Strawberry flavor to try out later... I'll let you guys know how they work out.
I also gave the "Kre-Alkylin Horsepower" by Ultimate Nutrition pre-workout mix a try, since I was getting ready for a workout. This is supposed to be an advanced creatine delivery system, and it has a few different arginine derivatives in it to give you a bigger pump and all that stuff. I had the lemon-lime flavor. Poured it into a glass and tried mixing it - the stuff would not disolve. I stirred for a while and thought it was dissolved - tried taking a drink and got a mouth full of powder. Really nasty tasting powder. Right now I'm holding off on leaving for my workout because my stomach is feeling kind of queasy from it... so thats a pretty big "thumbs down" on this product. I have 4-5 more packets of this garbage, so maybe I'll give it another try in a few days once I forget how awful it was.
After workout thoughts: I felt sick to my stomach for about 15 minutes after taking it... and ended up having to pee 3 times in about 30 minutes after taking it (which if you have ever worked out at a Lifetime Fitness - you understand is not a short walk!).
Once I got going on my workout though - I noticed some HUGE pumps. I did my set of Rack Chins - and I had such a massive bicep pump that I could barely scratch my shoulder. I walked out of the gym after the workout just feeling like I was going to explode because I was so pumped up. We all know that "pump" doesn't equal growth - but if you're looking to feel like your skin is going to rip from the pumps then I guess this product gets it done. I'm not sure if it was worth the nasty taste and other issues, but it ended up being fun to try out.
