    Do supplements really work?

Many people ask me time and time again which bodybuilding supplements they should be taking to help them reach their goals.

After speaking with them, I realize often times that all the bodybuilding supplements in the world wouldn’t help because they are under the assumption that just by taking supplements, they will totally transform their bodies into huge, ripped, muscular ones. This is not going to happen. Many are even fooled into believing that. I personally use supplements and really like the effects I get from them.

But supplements are exactly that, they are suppose to supplement your well-balanced diet and your hard work in the gym. They are not a substitute for them. In fact, if you do not train correctly or eat a well-balanced diet, supplements are a total waste of money.

Supplements must be used correctly to be effective. You cannot be missing days here and there or cutting down the amount taken to make it last longer.
Supplements must be taken on your off days from training just as well as when you are working out. It is on your off days that your body is recovering from strenuous workouts and needs the proper nutrition to support muscle growth.

The correct supplements will assist you if you are unable to take in the nutrients that are required by your body that you normally get from ingesting whole food sources.

Using the correct supplement will give you an edge in your fat loss and muscle building efforts. But they cannot be the quick cure! A proper diet and scheduled weight training program are a must.

Very good point Ligirl!!! I also take supplements and love the effects from them, but I know that without proper diet, training and rest it is a waste of money.

It is also important to understand clearly what the supplement you are taking is supposed to do or how it is benefitting your health. So many people out there take all kinds of bogus crap simply because the guy at the counter told them it was awesome. Talk to people who know, who have used them and read all the literature you can. It is the only way you can make an informed intelligent decision on what to put into your body. It is your vessel, don't sink it.

Forgot to add one thing. There are also supplements out there that can be dangerous to your health, DHEA to name one. Don't assume that because you can buy it OTC it is safe, that just isn't the case.
