After years of empty talk, Dave Bautista, former WWE standout, will make his mixed martial arts debut. While Bautista had been in talks to debut under the Strikeforce banner, fate dealt the wrestler a different hand. At this point there will be no Strikeforce for Bautista, however he will test his mixed martial arts abilities at un upcoming CES MMA event.
The event will be held at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I.. Bautistaâs opponent will be fellow MMA neophyte, Rashid Evans. No solid details have been released in regards to a televised broadcast, though breaking reports indicate the event will indeed be aired.
Dave spent time training with Nick Diaz and trainer Cesar Gracie, before recently opening his own Florida gym.
Since parting ways with the WWE in 2010, Bautista has picked up some respectable work in front of cameras. Dave can be seen in The Scorpion King 3, as well as two intriguing pictures slated for release in the not too distant future: the Quentin Tarantino produced hybrid action/horror feature, The Man with the Iron Fists and the forthcoming Chronicles of Riddick film.
