    Completely random stuff…

This made me think about stuff all weekend

So I got a letter from some place called NYG Pershing about an abandoned account in my father’s name. So I’ll have to deal with that shit now.

But I’ll never forget the day I found out my father died. I was heading home from a 10 hour day and was actually going to stop at a buddy’s house to look at a gas line that he thought was leaking.

It was a rainy snowy mix, just junk to drive in anywhere but even shittier than normal that day and traffic by Joliet was worse than normal.

It was a young trooper that called me. I could tell from his voice that my father was the first dead person he’s ever seen. I even asked him if he was okay and that he should go talk to someone if he was messed up from it. His name was Colton, I found out he was new to that sheriffs department. Only 23 years old. So now I had to make calls. First one was to Brittany and before I could get out the words “don’t tell the kids” she’s screaming to them that Grampa Jim Jim was dead. We gave him that name from some dumb Vince Vaughn movie. Then I have to figure out which brother to call first. I chose Travis my middle brother he lost it. Next was Troy, he was tending bar so I called the bar in our home town to let him know. Him and my father didn’t talk much since he came out of the closet and my father never believed it. I told both of them I was coming to get them because we had a hell of a drive to make that night. Next was my sister, the train wreck. She was going through her own problems with my, now ex brother in law, she wouldn’t answer for me so I had to call my brother in law and he had to yell through a door that our father was dead. Hell of a way to hear it.

Next call was my mother. They had been divorced for 23 years. She still broke down.

I get home and find my son crying in his room. My father was his hero.

I didn’t say much I packed a bag went to the safe and grabbed money because I had no idea what to expect when I got there.

I picked up my brothers. I drove the entire time not saying much to either one. They both were able to sleep on the drive. All I could think of how scared my father was when he took his last breathes.

I didn’t sleep for something like 50 hours. A very good friend kept in touch with me to make sure I slept and ate.

It was a rough couple days to say the least

When I need advice, he’s not there anymore. I have his ashes in my man cave next to a few pictures of us together. I have is fishing hat and his orange hunting vest sitting there in my gun safe. I hoped every was finally settled with this shit but nope it never is.

He's somewhere my belief is God. His energy " spirit lives on". I lost my dad when I was 23 and my mother 2.5 yrs ago. I talk to them both too. I'm here if you need to talk no matter how long they've been gone it can and will stir up depression

I can’t imagine what that’s like brother. I lost it when my dog died. I was just holding his ashes yesterday saying hi to him. Both of my parents are still alive somehow. Had close calls with both. In fact my brother is visiting next week and my mom wants to go over where everything is when she goes, with us. Depressing stuff.
