Athleticon
I think Dwayne Rock Johnson sold out to the Olympia people here. This was to happen prior to the Olympia million dollar purses equal to everyone and possible could set the Olympia on its butt. But nope they end up holding it after in October. Talking with my friend, the competitors aren't happy its after. They are all wanting something to get the production folks at the "O" to start giving real money across the board.

Yes supposed to be. $1,000,000 purse men & women equal prize money.
Shoshanna Cohen September 18, 2019 • 1 min read We all know the Arnold Sports Festival (which includes the Arnold Classic) and Joe Weider's Fitness and Performance Weekend (which includes the Mr. Olympia) events. And it isn't often a new top-tier event comes along to rival them. In fact, it's unprecedented. But Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and media-and-fitness impresario Dany Garcia are shaking up the fitness-festival world with a new event, Athleticon, set to debut in Atlanta on October 9-11, 2020. Perhaps not surprisingly, given their Hollywood A-list pedigree, Johnson and Garcia aim to infuse new energy into fitness weekends built around physique competitions with a heightened focus on entertainment, including music performances, film premieres, dining, and even comedy. The weekend also promises to be inclusive, involving athletic and wellness angles, not just aesthetic contests. There's something for everybody. The wide-ranging approach reflects individuals' broadening ranges of interests; these days, it's just as likely for an active person to rotate among strength training, yoga, and running as they are to be a single-sport athlete. Athleticon has the potential to become a majorly huge new event and a chance for active people of all stripes to come together over common ground—and it looks like it's going to be a ton of fun. Head to the Athleticon website or follow it on Instagram and Twitter to see how the festival develops and reserve your spot for the inaugural event! A couple cuts from the long article... According to our sources the Athleticon event has already brought in close to $9 million in sponsorship deals from just two companies. With just under a year to go for this event, this number will surely increase. Athletes such as Dexter Jackson are on record saying that they are looking forward to this event and could possibly compete as well. Prize Money According to our sources, the prize money for Athleticon would be approximately over $1million to be spread over 8 pro divisions of men and women for the NPC/Pro League World Championships. This is a huge amount for the majority of the divisions, this will surely compete with the Olympia Weekend. There will also be a NPC/Pro qualifier with eight pro cards available to be won and qualification for the NPC/Pro League World Championships. Dwayne Johnson has already easily matched the amount of the Olympia Weekend to attract the biggest names in the industry. A number of epic competitions The expo will cater to a number of world class competitions. Bodybuilding and fitness, The Worlds Strongest Man (USA vs Europe), WWE, Tital Games, Crossfit, UFC, Basketball and more. Phil Heath 7X Mr. Olympia Phil Heath earlier this week also spent a lot of time with Dwayne Johnson training together, with many speculating that Heath could possibly be involved in the Athleticon event. Even if he does not compete, Phil would me a great asset to Dwayne Johnson and the Athleticon event in general. Phil Heath did express his feelings about how he felt he was treated in the buildup to the 2018 Olympia Weekend. He felt the focus was on the other athletes defeating him rather than him possibly winning his eighth Olympia title. Last edited by Friggemall; 11-15-2019 at 04:49 PM.. |

I agree but it looks like they a.k.a.: NPC/Pro League President Jim Manion may have strong armed the two into holding it after the Mr. O instead of in July when they were originally going to hold it to give them the NPC nod of approval. I think that would have really given the Mr. O a challenge to step up finally.
