Pinched nerve

So I pinched the median nerves somewhere in my shoulder and it knocked me out for some time. I couldn't focus on anything. The only way I can describe it is it felt like someone was poking a cavity in your tooth with a silver fork only down the left side of my neck all the way to my fingertips.

Gabapentin didn't do anything. What actually helped was a Thai massage. I'm on my 5th session and it has worked wonders. It hasn't been enjoyable at all but she has been able to get me moving again, and the pain to subside a great deal. I still have some tingling and my thumb and index finger are still numb but at least I don't have that constant cavity feeling anymore. Gonna keep going once a week to just stay on top of it but it was bad. Hope I don't ever do that again.

I’d say if you still have tingling & or numbness you still have a pinched nerve. Don’t put it off! I let mine go for too long before I decided to see a specialist. It was decided that surgery was the best thing to do so I went for it & had the herniated part of the disk shaved off that was pinching the nerve.

Fast forward 9-10 years later & my left hand is still all jacked up. My left thumb is kind of dead. I can grip things but I can’t open my thumb to grab things. Think of it as trying to hitch hike, even if you phyyraise your thumb it will just fall.

My advice is to figure out what is pinched & why. Like I tell others, learn from my mistakes so it doesn’t happen to you.

The only digit on my left hand that works properly is my index finger. The others have limited movement & ache often.

If the massages dont work definitely get it looked at. It could be spinal damage.

Every now and then I get something similar although I suspect less severe. For several days I can't turn my head and I get a tingling and weakness in my left arm.

Oh boy I'm having a flash back here, if you're having tingling in the fingers weakness on one side and ifelbow pain, and feels like strength decreasing on one side. You could have a pinch radial nerve, it's horrible went through all the massages and chiropractors. Finally went to orthopedic got an MRI my C5 and C6 was collapsed on the nerve. So wound up replacing a couple disc. Strongly suggest you go to an ortho and get an MRI to see what's going on.

I’m giving this a thumbs up. You can deal with it & work around it but the longer it goes undiagnosed &/or treated the more permanent damage it’s doing.

Miss you pooh bear.

Loss my horseshoe on my right tricep permanently and a inch off the arm. I waited to long. A MRI and a Ortho should be your starting point, wish I knew then

Just think of it as being proactive. I did the chiropractor and masseuse route. My starting point should have been an MRI, see the results and plan your course of action

I agree. The sooner the better. My left hand aches all the time. The ring & pinky fingers more than any others. My entire hand cramps up daily. It’s honestly not any fun at all.

Yes I am right handed. The right hand has some pretty bad arthritis. Getting old sucks.

I'm not outta the woods yet and have been in a neck brace so forgive my absence. The pain has dulled from having the brace supporting my head. I still have to sleep flat on my back with my arms by my side which sucks because I'm a side sleeper. I have an appointment tomorrow with a sports injury therapist who specializes in these types of injuries.

I was told by my PT that neck braces are NOT good for your neck. The muscles in the neck become reliant on the support and lose strength. The best thing is to do PT and neck exercises. But I hope you are better!!
