Cold laser therapy

OK, I have head of this therapy before but never used it. It seems to be similar to ultrasound therapy but does not use heat. I bring this up because we took our cat to a sports medicine and rehab clinic here and they used cold laser therapy on his neck and hip. So anyone here had the opportunity to use this therapy?
