Older test methods use monoclonal antibodies, which likely would bind to other steroids compounds yielding a skewed test level. Ask your Dr or if you know the lab the dr uses, call them directly and ask if they use tandem mass spec or ELISA. Is it's the mass spec, you'll only get values for test, nothing else. ELISA can and will cross react with other similarly structured compounds (Dbol, for example). Hope this helps…
^^^ this. They also do it by RIA, which is antibody driven. If they do mass spec or GC/MS there should not be interference by other compounds. But the GC/MS and mass spec are probably more expensive and may not be that common. I've seen a lot a lot a lot of interference over the years. Best to be safe.

But all compounds are a derivative of test, even deca and tren right? If so, then why it is always recommended to run test along side either to keep test levels up.

Deca and tren are progestins non testosterone derived anabolics

LI, all AAS are derivatives of testosterone. Test has just been altered in a way to produce a new chemical, ie, deca altered at 19th carbon, compounds like winny, var, mast - all DHT based, and DHT is a derivative of test, etc etc. Damn dude you know more about this shit than I do - you're just misusing the word derivative/derive and confusing the hell out of everything I've learned in the past 15 years reading!LOL

When you change the testosterone molecule you no longer have a derivative of testosterone, as in the case of deca you have a nor-testosterone, something quite different, just like halotestin is a derivative of DHT and not testosterone.

            Anabolic Steroids Profile
<-- Return to Main Profiles Page

Nandrolone is a modification of testosterone (carbon atom removed from the 19th position) With an Anabolic/Androgenic ratio: 125:37, meaning it is highly anabolic (muscle building) and moderately androgenic (male characteristics). Due to nandrolones chemical structure it only aromatizes (converts to estrogen) slightly, at about 20% the rate of testosterone when it interacts with the aromatase enzyme. Ergo, estrogenic effects are not a major concern with its use. Of note, however, is that nandrolone is a progestin with a binding affinity of 20% to the progesterone receptor (15) (PgR), so side effects are still possible, though rare. The development of breast tissue in males (gynecomastia) has been reported in some steroid.com users. One of the most popular anabolic steroid used in bodybuilding cycles, nandrolone is also (medically) used to treat severe debility or disease states and refractory anemias.(1) It promotes tissue building processes, reverses catabolism (muscle destruction) and stimulates erythropoiesis (red blood cell production). This makes it a very useful drug to treat wasting disorders such as advanced H.I.V. (2)( 16), and also, makes it highly sought after by bodybuilders and athletes.

No they are not all test derivatives. They have all been attenuated in different ways. The 19 nor compounds (C19 not present) are based on nandrolone which is a naturally occurring compound in humans. Others such as anavar, drostanolone etc are dihydrotestosterone derivatives. Others such as Equipoise and dianadol are testosterone derivatives. Specific structural characteristics place them in these categories. Test derivatives are C4 unsaturated. 19 nor for obvious reasons. DHT derivatives becasue C4 is saturated.

All are attenuated in some way possibly with the exception of trenbolone, meaning that either estrogen or dihydrotestosterone like activity is lessened compared to testosterone. They don't interconvert to the same set of compounds and do not have the same downstream activities as testosterone so they are not equivalent replacements for testosterone. Rather, they are generally used for anabolism potentiation.

Well damn thanks for the lesson science guys! I thought since DHT is a derivative of test, then all the derivatives of DHT is also derivatives of test - like a family tree or whatever, and so forth with test/deca. Guess I was looking at it all wrong.

Nandi was a real true stud. I was reading some of his stuff just the other day over at CEM. He was a real nice guy and easy to get along with too...almost no ego at all. God, he is missed
