That is one wise 13 year old. He listens better and probably more often than most of us do. Sometimes it takes the innocence of a child to remind us to acknowledge the life we have and appreciate it for what it is.The reputation of a thousand years may be determined by the conduct of only one hour.Comment

Reminded me of high school.
I lived on a farm and an old cow, number 148, had a calf.
She was a good milk producer.
The calf was stillborn and the dairyman asked me to help him get it out. We had to use a winch.
The dairyman stuck his hands up there to get the chain around the calf's front legs. We stapped one off but got it out anyway.
Really messy. Only the dairyman and I were there with the cow.
She couldn't get up.
We had to drag her out of the barn with the tractor.
Dairyman drove while I pushed the cow from the ground.
She had sad eyes. She was one of my favorite cows, easy to milk, didn't kick, gentle.
We set her on a truck and sent her off to the abatuar.
Yeah, I kind-of know what this kid went through, I was only 14.Comment
