Acetone for Extra Gas Mileage?
I found this on another site...am curious if anyone has ever heard of this or even tried it?
FOOD OR FUEL ? WHICH DO YOU CHOOSE?!

I?ve studied this and have been using this for some time now with phenomenal results. One gallon of 100% Pure Acetone is good for use in over 500 gallons of fuel. That is 25 doses for your 20 gallon tank of gas. I have standardized the amount to use at 2.5 ounces for every 10 gallons of fuel. That is ? of an ounce of Acetone for every gallon of fuel. Simple, if it takes 14 gallons of gasoline to fill your tank you multiple 14 X .25 to tell you that you need 3.5 ounces of Acetone to add to the tank.
For those who have diesels engines I recommend 1.8 ounces of Acetone for every 10 gallons of diesel as a standard. One gallon of Acetone will improve the mileage of over 700 gallons of diesel!!!
How hard is that to do to get 15 to 35+ % increase in mileage???!!!
I guarantee only one thing, if you don?t use this it will do absolutely nothing for you!! USE IT!!! Save wasted fuel money to stock up on food, you will need it soon!!!

Thanks to Midnight_Falls for sharing the information about Acetone as an additive to increase fuel mileage!
I could not waste time establishing a base for my results, but I was much impressed with the results. People at work are excited about this info and I really want to thank Midnight_Falls and recommend this to everyone.
I have a 1995 Pontiac GrandAm with 229,000 miles on it. I used to get 25 mpg when I first got it (used). Lately, I guess it was somewhere between 23 and 25 mpg. We put a new set of spark plugs in and added 1 ounce of Acetone after I fueled up last week.
Yesterday, I did the math at the gas station. I got 29.1 mpg. I have been driving it home before adding the Acetone, so I may increase my mileage by adding it immediately upon filling up instead of using 2+ gallons of untreated fuel to get home.
My new tank full will get 2 ounces this week. I bought the Acetone at Lowes for $14 for a gallon - 128 ounces. I will try to find the stuff that says 100% Acetone on the label, but until I can find that, the Lowe's Acetone will have to do.
I noticed absolutely no change in my car with the exception of what the new spark plugs might have made. I did notice my fuel tank took longer to empty - which is a good thing!
If you have experimented with Acetone, I would sure like to hear your results so I can share your results with friends. I'd especially like to hear about diesel results.

First, I never sneak anywhere. I found singing along with the radio keeps the deer off the highway. LOL
This test is new for me, so I took everything home before adding the Acetone. Pouring from the gallon can is extremely difficult. I intend to find the 16 oz plastic bottles they say are available from Walgreens.
I bought a "fuel additive" funnel from the auto parts store that has a long nozzle and is perfect for this purpose. It cost $1.98 and will protect my paint job.
We measured one ounce using a shot glass. The funnel was put in the gas tank and the Acetone was poured down it and away I went. It couldn't have been any easier.
This week I added two ounces to my new tank of fuel. I bought a measuring glass at WalMart that has 1/2 ounce graduations up to four ounces. I used a turkey baster to fill it up to the two ounce mark and poured it in the tank with my funnel. It is a no brainer. I will put three ounces in a glass jar and take it with me the next time I fill up so I can add it immediately.
Fingernail polish remover is basically Acetone I have been told. Use the same caution you would with that. Don't store or use near flames. Whatever you do, don't try to convince yourself it is difficult. Trust me. If I can add Acetone to my tank, anyone can.
I personally did not notice any fumes. I am sure there are some, but I did not do any heavy breathing while I transferred the Acetone from the gallon can to the measuring glass.
We are storing the gallon can, the funnel and now the turkey baster all together in the shop away from any source of heat or flames.
Remember these articles are going to protect themselves with disclaimers about caution to avoid being sued by someone who doesn't excerise normal care. If you use standard caution required with a flammable material, you will be fine.
I can't wait to see what next week brings and what others are able to achieve with their experiments.
Carol

THE KEY TO SUCCESS

One of the major, MAJOR keys to success is NOT to use Ethanol fuel. Many oil company?s have been secretly under heavy litigation for watering down the fuel supply by way of the use of Ethanol infested gasoline. One of the most important points in the articles I posted stated the fact that alcohol in the fuel decreases the MPG rating of the fuel. In point of fact Acetone freezes at -94.7C (-138.46F) and Ethanol freezes at -117.3C (-179.14F) and both chemicals are miscible (mixes without separation) with water in all proportions so are both very good as fuel line antifreeze agents. BUT Ethanol boils at 78.5C (173.3F) and Acetone boils at 56.3C (133.34F). This indicates as a point of fact that Acetone vaporizes and ignites far easier that Ethanol making it a far superior fuel additive. So then it defeats the purpose of using Acetone if you use Ethanol Fuel. Being that I refuse to use Ethanol Fuels in any of my vehicles helps make my point when I say that the average between three vehicles I use I have easily obtain an average 22% increase in MPG by using the simply formula I stated before of 2.5 ounces (74ml) Acetone per every 10 gallons (40 liters) of fuel. That is 5 ounces for every 20 gallon tank of fuel and one gallon of Acetone easily treats 512 gallons of Gasoline or 711 gallons of Diesel (at 1.8 ounces (53ml) to 10 gallons (40 liters)). It measures out to 500 parts gasoline to 1 part Acetone and 700 parts Diesel to 1 part Acetone.
