I may have the opportunity to accept a position over there. It pays 2.5 times what I make now, and if you stay for 330 days it is tax free. Everything is paid for, including food and a place to stay.

Would any of you consider doing something like this?

Its not a bad gig, at least now that they have decent accommodations for the contractors.

helliburton?...lol...I would jump on that shit bro....I actually almost took a job for the govt. as a private contracted securtity guard....missed the oppertunity, so Im fucked there....but If I were you, I would hop on it

if you dont have a serious gf or a wife. can they gaurntee you 330 days or more?? that is the BIG question. cause if not it may not be worth it.

That's the kicker, still married with two runts. It starts as a 6 month contract, usually with an option to extend. It is with the same company I am with now, so it will be easier to switch jobs to stay if need be. My current job is in jeopardy at this point so just exploring options.

I wouldn't consider it, the main reason is that it's to goddamn hot most of the year. I live across the street from a super beach on lake superior, I would miss the lakes to much to. The politics of the situation wouldn't stop me.

2.5 times your pay...even if it isnt tax free...they tax you 2.5 times as much and your take home is 2.5 what your take home is now.

Sounds like a good thing. But being married and all its not such an easy call. Really you should be asking your family what they think of it.

doing what?...are you gonna prostitute yourself again ,thate..internationally??

Turning tricks on the streets of Baghdad wearing a ninja suit with a hole in the back.

I would not do it then. You are not being guarnteed tax exemption are you? so your question is answered. You can not sell your soul to the devil for $ bro. Your life and family are more important. You can not find a job here as a network mgr?? i see plenty of opportunity here for that career. May not be exactly as much $, but at least you will see your family and children, and that is more important than any amount of $ imo.
