In your opinion, when at their best, who had the best physique of all time? There's only 10 options in the poll, so if you like someone else, post them. There's other mentions that many have talked about including Phil Heath, Mike Mentzer, Bob Paris, Lee Lebrada, Dexter Jackson, Kevin Levrone, Shawn Ray, Samir Bannout, etc.

You left out a few notables like Dexter for instance. I went with flex.

Andreas Munzer. Years ahead of his time. And no one else has ever achieved the degree of lean-ness he displayed.

Gotta go with Frank Zane. If we're talking physique and not solely mass. For me it's an easy choice. He had the size, and balance that lacks nowadays

I thought maybe this pic belongs here.

I find this kinda hilarious haha! A big ol' burley powerlifter built like a tank voting for the most peeled guy ever. Isn't this synonomous to Hillary voting for Trump? :p

Jokes aside, he displayed feathers & striations never seen before. RIP Munzer.

I've told you a little about how I got started training with weights. I was a new fish on the record yard in prison, my first time in. I was bored, they lock you out of the barracks all day with nothing to do except try to find some shade. The weights were under a pavilion but you had to be lifting or move on. So I joined some Bros benching. I was repping 265, 275 for 6-8 reps per set at the big, burly weight of 145lbs. Coach saw me, stuck me on the power lifting team but didn't really teach me anything. So here is a sample workout.
Flat bench, 10 sets of 10. Incline, 10 sets of 10 or till failure, whichever came first. Decline, 10 sets of 10. Weighted dips, 10 sets of 10. Flies, 10 sets of 10. Dumbbell presses, 10 sets of 10.
Day 2 am session, squats, 10 sets of 10, leg extension 10 sets of 10. Leg curls, 10 sets of 10. Stiff legged dead lifts, 10 sets of 10. Lunges, 10 sets of 10. Front squats, 10 sets of 10.
PM session, seated military press behind the neck, 10 sets of 10. Seated press to the front, 10 sets of 10. Lat pull downs behind the neck, 10 sets of 10, then 10 sets to the chest. Lawn mower pulls, 10 sets of 10. T-bar rows, 10 sets of 10. Bent over rows, 10 sets of 10. Dead lifts, 10 sets of 10.
You get the idea now. Extreme over training. You either get strong as an ox and cut razor sharp, or you get weaker and wilt away and start playing dungeons and dragons with the wierdo's.
I got stronger and cut. On off days we would do 500 sit ups in the am, 500 crunches in the pm and walk the track when we were done.
It's because of guys like me they took all the weights out of Florida prisons. We were getting to big and strong to handle.
I got my muscle and fitness mag along with my playboy every month. Devoured all the info and applied what I could.
And Munzer was the guy that caught my eye during Haney's reign. I thought Munzer was sharper, more detailed, and striations on striations. Way, way ahead of his time. The dude has never been matched in conditioning.
So yeah, the 60 year old fat power lifter loves Munzer. Ironic, but I used to try to emulate that look, believe it or not.

That was serious weight to throw around at 145# for a newbie. Very impressive.

Good stuff. Crazy strong for weighing only 145. Just curious, what were typical meals when you were in? Also, what did you weigh when you came out?

Eggs, grits, biscuits, SOS, toast, pancakes and peanut butter were typical breakfasts.
Lunch, beans, rice with some form of undiscernable meat.
Supper, chicken, pork chops, meat loaf, potatoes, fish, grits, beans, rice.
Bread of some sort, rolls, biscuits, bread with every meal.
Also green beans, squash, lots of greens (collards, turnips, mustard, spinach). Most of this stuff would be grown at the prison farm, worked by lower custody inmates.

High calorie meals. I ate everything they gave me whether I liked it or not. I also bought a #10 can of peanut butter a week from a guy in the kitchen. I'd sit in my bunk reading muscle and fitness eating peanut butter.
Went in the first time in early '83 at 145. Got out late '86 at 210.

I like a lot of guys it's really hard to choose... I picked flex cause he just has that type of body that had size ripped and good proportions I also think Kevin should get an honourable mention

Damn I put this poll up a week ago and has 9 total votes. :wackit:
