So lately while doing legs I have a bad pain above the knee sorta where the muscle inserts it's muscle pain I've never really experienced it right there before usually when training higher up in my mid quads hurt not so close to the knee ... Anyways I feel it now in and out of the gym and it's at the point where it's affecting my leg workouts ... Have you guys ever experienced this ?

I have kinda, but it was actually right in the knee. I'm dealing with this right now - along with 8 month old rear neck pain, elbow tendonitis and RC issues haha. Best advice I can give is do NOTHING that causes it to hurt. If that means giving up squats, hacks, exts, etc - do it. Or if it means stop hitting quads altogther until it heals, do it. Last think you want is to make it gradually worse until you have a serious injury which = downtime out of the gym. Good luck healing.

I agree. If it hurts your body is telling you there is a problem.
It could be a bone spur or calcium deposit from your description of the location.

Is there anything to remedie this ? I took this week light and tried to find exercises that didn't agrivate it ..

What the others said. But I'd take 2 weeks off legs and see if it gets any better. You can still do calves and hammies, just lay off the quads for 2 weeks. That should give you an indication if it is getting even slightly better. if it isn't then it could be a bigger issue like buff said with a spur or something.

Check out Kinesio tape or KT for short, there are ways that you can tape your knee to help alleviate some pressure. I use it on my feet and it seems to relieve the swelling as well as provide some comfort. I order mine from www.rocktape.com

If it's soft tissue look up active release technique see if anyone in the are does it. Really good for soft tissue stuff.

I have had pain in my right knee for awhile now, it starts above my knee and kinda feels like a rubber band is pulled super tight across my knee cap, it hurts when I stand from a sitting position and it hurts when I go to sit from a standing position. After I move it back and forth a few times, like squat down and up or some leg extensions, it is ok until I am in the same position for awhile then it hurts again! When I do legs it kills me, I have to squat and stretch it out and walk around and move it after every set for like 5 mins or more, it make my leg day super long and painful. It hurts everyday and just getting in and out of the car is painful. I went to the doctors and talked to him about it and had him take xrays of it to see if there was a bone spur or anything that would cause it and he said the xrays came back fine, he checked me for arthritis and there is none. I did some research and found that I have every symptom of quadriceps tendonitis. The quad muscle actually turns into a tendon right above the knee cap and then attaches to the knee. I talked to my doctor about it a couple of days ago and he set me up an appointment with a specialist to find out what it is and what to do about it. He said I may have to get an MRI but he will let the specialist do his thing and decide that.

From what you said about it hurting above the knee and so close to the knee it sounds like the quad tendon to me. So I would suggest doing some research on knee injury problems and their symptoms and see if you can at least determine what the problem may be and if you need to see a doctor.

Thanks

Thanks man I'm experiencing exactly what u have. Like u described it better then I could have. I don't think mine is as extreme as urs though But now I know where to start looking and if it's tendinitis I've delt with those isues in other joints so treatment is similar rest anti inflamitories and hopefully it goes away quick

I went to the doc today and he said that he thinks I have tendonosis in my quad, which is like tendonitis but has been happening longer, tendonitis is what they call it when it first happens and is inflamed, tendonosis is when it has been around awhile and not so much inflamed. He said therapy is the best answer for it right now because the xrays showed my knees are in good shape and it seems to be just the tendon so instead of an injection or anything like that right now he wants me to do therapy twice a week and see if it makes it better. I hope all it takes is therapy and nothing else. He gave me anti inflammatory meds to see if they will help any but he said physical therapy will be the best thing for it.

So take it easy bro and take some anti inflammatory meds and rest it and see how that helps you. If after a few months it is still hurting you may need therapy for it too.

Thanks

I am glad I could help you out bro. It sucks to have an injury but it is part of what comes with what we do to our bodies when we lift heavy and get big!! We can try to avoid them and take precautions but they are inevitable and something is going to happen and we have to roll with it and deal with it when it does. What we can do is educate each other from our experiences and help one another possibly avoid the injuries that we have had. I have had injuries that were pretty bad and if I can educate someone on what happened and how it happened and what not to do so it wont happen to them, I will!!!

Thanks
