"What's good for the Goose is apparently NOT
what's good for the Gander."

and so you don't think my resources are antiquated, here's one from last week:
take note of the part..."The problem is that the scope of the dangers from climate change as painted by Mr. Gore seem to far outstrip the remedies included in the Waxman-Markey bill, which would only gradually curb U.S. greenhouse-gas emissions—and which don’t include any formula for curbing emissions from developing countries.

(Ohh, there's that "sticky developing countries whole again.")

"Mr. Gore spoke of ice melting at both poles. Just the collapse of the Western Antarctic Shelf, he said, could raise global sea levels by 20 feet. By his calculation, that would lead to about 600 million “climate refugees.”

20 feet? Do you know how much ice would have to melt to raise the earth's water surface area by 20 feet?
Well, here's some math:
Total surface area of the earth: 196,935,000 square miles
Total percent of that which is ocean: 70%
(http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2001/DanielChen.shtml)

196,935,000 x .70 = 137,854,500 Square miles
multiply 137,854,500 x 20 cubic feet (presumed rise in sea level) = 2,757,090,000 cubic feet increase in water displacement.

Consider this:
1 cubic foot of water at 62? F. equals 62.355 pounds.
whereas, 1 cubic foot of ice at 32? F., 57.50 pounds.
OK,
2,757,090,000 cubic feet increase in water displacement x 57.50 pounds (weight of 1 cubic foot of ice) = 1,585,326,750,000 total displaced ice (in pounds) needed to raise the earth's ocean levels 20 feet.
(1.6 trillion pounds of ice?) How is all that going to melt? And do you think it would happen so fast as so people along coastlines wouldn't have time to migrate? Come-on, people!

Last statistic shows the antartic ice sheet is actually getting bigger:

Hey, my explaination is not perfect, but I've been teaching science for 8 years and have certifications in Physical Science, Biology, and Earth Science. I have been very adament about reading current scientific data, and my conclusion is: Al Gore is pulling the wool over your eyes. Maybe doing some actual research other than listening to Keith Oberman might give some people an objective standpoint to make an actual relevent conclusion.
