why cant they fly backwards...they can go forward, left and right, but why not backwards....why...
 
haha very random. because birds dont waste time.. the fly above everyone and always keep goin forward.
 
then be thankful you have shit like this keeping u up rather than real problems and bull shit from life.
 
Mechanically speaking it is impossible for the average bird to fly backward becasue of the anatomy of the wing. Hummingbirds have a different musculature and wing "beat" pattern so they can maneuver backwards. Average birds can only move their wings in a certain direction and not in the directional pattern needed to create the mechanics to fly backward.

I have no idea if this is correct or not, but it sounds good, right?? ;)
 
I would think the could almost fly backwards a little. When you watch one land they bring there body more perpendicular to the ground.
So if the were flying
(wings like)

you would think they could fly backwards but only slightly and it would have to be in an upward direction also.

Actually no thats different, first they can swim backwards, ever own a fishtank ???

Secondly, if they do it for a prolonged period of time they die. That is why they drag sharks backwards, it kills them.
 
i dunno but am i the only one that as a kid always wanted to be able to fly?

wow this is the weirdes thrad i've seen in a long time. i have no idea why they don't fly backwards
 
Well , I watched this guy
(Yellow-HeadedBlackbird)
hovering over some dragonflys , and it seemed he did fly a bit backwards ...
Strange , but I never thought about it ..

Notice that you buddy in the picture has an RFID on her?
DNR or someone must of tagged her. Thats pretty cool though. Looks like a cool bird.
