Predictions? I'll take Joe by decision...I don't think Roy can handle how busy Joe will be. Although this could be very fucking interesting...Roy has a BIG chip on his shoulder. He's been hearing Hopkins call him out for a longggg time now...and with Hopkins statement of "never losing to a white guy" and then putting on a clinic with Pavlik, Roy knows he needs this win. Pavlik isnt in the same league as Calzaghe...Roy will have his hands full fosho. Then to top it off, with Obama winning the election, Roy is feeling supercharged per se based on his talk in the 24/7 series on HBO. Damn I really wanna see Joe go undefeated, but this I believe is gonna be a helluva test. Go Joe! :D

I have a feeling Roy is going to lose this fight.....I will be rooting for him though....

Yup, has to be calzaghe ftw... even though he is a sheep shagger lol

Fuckkkk yeaaaaaaah! Jones caught him in round 1 and knocked him down. After that, it was all she wrote.lol Calzaghe took Roy to school! He outworked Roy, he outspeeded Roy, he clowned, he came in continously with his hands down at his sides and Roy couldn't touch him. He humiliated Roy. He "out-Roy'ed" Roy. Roys eye started to swell after round 4. After round 8, compubox stats said its the most Roy had ever been hit in any of his fights ever...and with still 4 rounds to go. Joe opened Roys eye in round 8...nasty ass cut. It was a bloodbath after that. In round 9 Roy told his trainer "I can't touch him". And he couldn't...yeah Roy was still devastating fast and in shape, but he never faced the speed and style of Joe and the onslaught of punches coming from all angles. Joe could have coasted the last 4 rounds and won, but he still kept coming in with his hands down and dodging all Roys punches and fighting until the end of round 12. Decsion was unanimous on all 3 judges...118-109 Calzaghe. Yeaaaaaah baby! :D

Good fight summary, wish I could have watched it. Watched Kug Fu Panda and ate popcorn with my son..:D

Hank you are acting like he fought a prime Roy Jones or something??? Roy hasn't been elite since 2004 and is two months away from his 40th bday.

I'd like to see Joe man up and accept his mandatory challenger Chad Dawson. He would be fighting somebody in there prime, and who punches just as much as he does except twice as hard.

I know Roy isnt in his prime, but not like Calzaghe is a spring chicken good Lord...hes 36 and Roy is 39. :wackit: Even Emanuel Steward said Roy woulda caught hell with Joe even if he WAS in his prime. But the world will never know...all I know is I witnessed a complete "ownage" last night. :D

Roy is not as crisp as he once was, that is a given. If we could take Roy in his prime against a Joe in HIS PRIME the fight may have the same ending just different scores possible six five one round split.

People age differently bro, look at Hopkins. 43 year old Hopkins just tooled 26 year old Pavlik. Also, you have physical prime & boxing prime. Joe is still in his boxing prime, and if you have seen any of Roy's fights since 04 you know he CLEARLY isn't, hence the 4-1 betting status in Joe's favor. This fight will not have an impact on Joe's legacy imo, it was just a payday fight for both guys.

T I agree with you. Roy is past his prime. Hopkins is a late flower in my opinion and is just falling out of bloom in the past couple of years. Roy has been out for four years. Joe isnt going to have the longetivity that a Hopkins has, not gonna happen. Joe should retire after two more years and be done.

Joe may be retired now, but if he does continue it should only be against Chad Dawson.

About Hopkins, I don't think he has lost since he fought Roy in 1993. He absolutely tooled Taylor in their first fight, and won atleast 7 rounds in the rematch. The Calzaghe fight was closer but I still thought he landed the much more cleaner effective punches.

They say he had a thyroid condition that they got cleared up before the Pavlik fight, which is why he was able to throw so many punches and not tire down the stretch.

I agree, hopkins hasnt legitly lost a fight since he lost to roy

He sure as shit didnt lose to taylor, and i think it took a close decision vs calzaghe

Roy I wouldnt even say is over the hill, roy at this strange in his career cant fight anyone who is going to put preasure on him.

Its clear he can still box and still has power, but he doesnt have enough in the tank to fight a guy like calzaghe, ill even go as far as to say he wouldnt beat glen johnson in a rematch

Even looking at the rankings now, unless some of these euro fighters ive never heard of are pretty nasty, i think roy has a good shot at beating any of these guys (with joe gone) accept johnson and dawson

Another fight I wouldn't mind seeing Joe in is against Glen Johnson. They are both around the same age and both come forward. No way in hell Roy beats Glen now. Chad Dawson would have him out of there within 7 rounds imo.

I think Roy can beat an Elvir Muriqi at this point, but what does that do for him?

Hey atleast Barrera got a win this weekend!

Joe and Johnson would be a great fight. Styles make fights and clearly it would be a brawl.

I agree, but they wont fight
The guy is talking about retiring

No way he fights a very dangerous journymen like johnson

I think he would be more inclined to fight an older guy like Johnson before a young gun like Dawson. I'd be happy with either fight.

risk his legacy vs a guy like johnson? I think he will just retire

Do you remember when Joe bailed out of a fight vs Johnson a few years ago?

Anyway who do you think has a better legacy currently, Johnson or Dawson? I'd have to say Johnson > Dawson at this point, but Chad can easily be greater in time.

Joe is the man, but beating a broken down Roy Jones Jr meant nothing. Jones Jr used to be the man, hate seeing him take beatings now.
