help with electrical question!!

Sup kids, dont laugh too hard i am dumb as a rock when it comes to household chores, but i live in a garden level apartment and there r no ceiling lights. so i have lot of light bulbs but they are yellow and not pleasant to me.

With winter coming and the work hours i never get to see the sunlight so today i went and bought a halogen lamp from walmart that said Replaces 90-120 wat and output 1790 lumens. It also says indoor plus outdoor floodlight and "fresh clean energizing light"

I tried to plug it into a bulb holder and b oom the circuit blew off.

Do i need a different kinda lamp for it? see attached pic

take a pic of ur lamp socket usually it says right near it max wattage and bulb type like (100watt max type a) which is a standard bulb....now if ur bulb screws in properly just make sure your under the max wattage..... another thing is halogens get really really hot like enough to burn paper or cardboard if placed close enough which can be a fire hazard so be aware of that

if i were u id try to find the highest wattaged compaced florencent which will give off a nice whiteish blue light and save ur eletric bill

i just got it too work, lamee the light is still yellow, this is not what i had in mind RETURN.. I will try the compacte fluoroscent how high do they go up til?

30ish watts maybe a little higher but they are equivilent to over 100watts

I just got a 3-way that is equivalent to 50-100-150 watts for $10 at Wally World. At the highest level it is I think 36watts.

Naturally you need a 3-way lamp socket or it just turns on one level all the time.

Any time you get the spark it's a dead short. Look at the light fixture itself and see if 1) the tounge on the inside is pushed too far down. With the power off you can pull it back up more with a small screw driver; 2) check the plastic insulation around the lamp hlder housing. It could be shorting out on something metal.

Get fluorescent or led bulbs. Better light and less electrickery used.
