This really pisses me off. People like Huckabee need to take a look at this little thing we call

THE FIRST AMENDMENT

Bill of Rights said:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

If people want to live in a country ruled by religion, they need to move to Iran. What if we get a lot more Jewish people in this country? Do we have to amend the consitution to the Talmud? Or if more muslims were to show up here do we implement Shaira law in the constitution?

IF THE FOUNDING FATHERS WANTED RELIGION IN THE CONSTITUTION THEY WOULD OF PUT IT THERE.

You don't believe in freedom, you don't believe in America, and this proves it.

The United States Constitution never uses the word "God" or makes mention of any religion, drawing its sole authority from "We the People." However, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee thinks it's time to put an end to that.

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

When Willie Geist reported Huckabee's opinion on MSNBC's Morning Joe, co-host Mika Brzezinski was almost speechless, and even Joe Scarborough couldn't immediately find much to say beyond calling it "interesting,"

Scarborough finally suggested that while he believes "evangelicals should be able to talk politics ... some might find that statement very troubling, that we're going to change the Constitution to be in line with the Bible. And that's all I'm going to say."

Geist further noted of Huckabee that if "someone without his charm," said that, "he'd be dismissed as a crackpot, but he's Mike Huckabee and he's bascially the front-runner."

I'm all for putting God in there bro

Too bad that is COMPLETELY UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT AMERICA WAS FOUNDED UPON.

So what happens when your religion becomes the minority, does the majority get to change it to their will?

Will you follow Islamic law if they become the majority? What about Jewish law?

Or is it only your beliefs that you want followed? Every country that has based its laws on religion has always oppressed the people. If you don't believe me, any history book can back me up.

no pussy religion shit in government period! No magical stories need to be involved with politics

Why was God put on all money and prayer in school in the first place? Seems as if the minorities have already won bro.

I don't think we need an ammendment to allow God in there, but just keep things the way they were.

Huckabee isn't going to win anyway so no worries.

I dont know, why was the ILLUMINATI symbol put on the money either?

There is nothing wrong with saying In God We Trust on the back of a dollar bill, but there is something wrong with changing the constitution to say In God We Will Obey.

And why? FREEDOM OF RELIGION, one of the principals this country was founded on. You or I may CHOOSE to follow a higher power, but the constitution cannot be changed to force people to. That eliminates choice, it eliminates freedom, IT ELIMINATES AMERICA.

I don't think we need an ammendment to allow God in there, but just keep things the way they were.

Way they were huh? Like back in the colonial times?

Lets see, how about the Salem witch trials? Always nice to have a bunch of innocent people die.

Or how about the "Tolerance Act?" If you aren't familiar with that, it was the act passed in the colony of Maryland that basically forced you to "tolerate" anyone who believed Christ was the son of God, however all others could be executed.

Society was mainly full of very religious people so the world tended to live their life that way and shun everything that wasn't.

Now people are starting to see organized religion as an opiate for the masses that is out to control their mind and their pocketbook. Fundamentalist religion is dying, and it is only going to go down hill from here. If society wants to live everything around religion, the masses will call for it. The masses REJECT that mentality now.

I agree. If Huckabee stays in the race he will get my vote. If not...McCain.

The founding fathers are DEAD. They were on the defensive against govt and religious persecution. Times change. Do you really think pedophiles and rapists would have been able to hide behind the constitution...they would have been lynched with no trial. The constitution has a few inherent flaws and needs to be changed. GOD INCLUDED is a necessary change. ;)

Says a small minority of people. Religion is fading away, and if you couldn't get it done 50 years ago when the world was conservative, you sure as hell can't do it now. If any politician tries, his plan will be canceled faster than a fetus at planned parenthood. Uber-religious conservatives need to understand that they are the minority, and most people want freedom.

im with cruci on this one. religion and government are two separate entities, always have been always will be. we got enough government up our ass religions only gonna make it worse:lue:

NO, they got It right the first time, religion has no place in government. The constitution is for the people, religion is for the individual. If we want to put God in this then what religion do we chose and who's god? And when I say WE CHOSE, it will be most likely chosen for you. As a history teacher and holder of a masters in political science i can see the troubles of this way beyond most. Its way past just words on paper and a good moral meaning...over time it would be devastating to our country.
