Mac or PC?

I'm in the market for a new laptop. I'm sick of the Microsoft and PC issues. I keep hearing that Mac doesn't have nearly the problems of the PC and Microsoft.
What are your experiences? I'm reluctant to switch just because I've been using the pc for so many years (which I know is a stupid reason).
Give me some advice. I'm know there are a lot of wizards on this board.
 
Vista sucks dildo's....

If you are just going to surf the net and do video/photo editing, then get a mac. Very simple.

If you're going to do gaming and run a shit load of pc based programs then just get a laptop, preferably without XP...
 
PC w/ vista enterprise is badassed. Get atleast 3gb of ram though and a 7200RPM hard drive. 256mb video card is the lowest I'd get as well.

If cost is your #1 concern go with a PC. But for sheer performance and versatilty MAC is far superior in both desktop and laptop. Every major high caliber magazine from National Geographic to Playboy is done on a high end Mac. Apple's main drawback used to be sticking with the problem-prone Motorola chip, but now that they have integrated the Intel chip in all their new operating systems, the windows machines can't come close. Plus the newest Macs can translate and use most PC programs. Apple support sucks.....but the machines are usually problem free. I'm on my 4th Mac since 1992 and my only complaints have been software glitches.

Remember that Gates became rich developing the Windows program that OVER-RIDES the basis dos operating system of the PC machines and gives them pull down windows and ease of use desktop similar to the MAC. This is built in to the MACS from the ground up and they are inherently faster. I have a 2 year old MAC with over a gig of ram, and it does everything faster than than any windows based PC I have used. Trying to navigate my brother's and even my best friend's Windows machines seem painful and slow after using a MAC. And I'm talking about even getting up out of the chair and letting them work the computers. These 2 PC's are state-of-the-art and loaded to the gills, but c-r-a-w-l next to speed with which the MAC loads spreadsheets, pics, Google and everything else, even e-mail downloads. ;)
 
Now it depends on what your doing. I'm in the computer field so I havew a good back ground on both Mac and PC. A MAc will always cost more than a pc and your stuck with what you get. You can change the video card and the memory but that's it on only a few Mac workstation SO you upgrades are very limited.

As for speed PC and Mac run just as fast except for stuff like photoshop and some other graphic programs that are designed for the Mac which makes them performe better.

If you want a killer PC that will smoke a Mac you just have to buy the very good "NAme Brand" Parts ie motherboard, video card, memory etc. Don't by the discount of the day shit.

I build my own computers and my pc will ut run anythig Mac has and it's much cheeper, at least $300 cheaper. Plus PC parts or so easy to come by. I have system not that I put together at the beging of the year with Vista Enterprise run all the updates which will also updates the drives and my workstation has yet to crash one time. This is no BS. Vist is good you just have to know how to tweak it to make it stable.

So i'll break it down. If your doind a lot of publication and graphic even a lot of web design go with a Mac

If your looking for an all around computer that will do games, work apps no matter what type and it will be also used for business a PC dollar for Dollar is the way to go.

I get paid $150 an hour to tell people thats shit. I hate Mac's none of my clients have the LOL!!!!!!

You can't build a PC that will outrun the newest and most powerful MACS. All the internet bullshit in the world can't change that simple fact.

You realy thinks so bro? Where did you get this info from. And what Mac's run duel or ever quad cores? Untill Intel cam into the pictrue for Mac's they where slow as snail shit.

You have to remember that Mac's all run the same chips that control every aspect. So when you build an app to run on a Mac you have to build it to work with that chipset so that is the only reason a Mac may be faster running SOME stuff.

You may not like the truth but a PC will smoke a Mac any day and I see it all the time. You ever seen a Quad core run before? Let's just say a Mac in a foot race with the Quad core would be a top fuel drag raceing aginst your car.
 
it if is speed you are looking for, just get all the latest and greatest hardware and run linux.

Mac vs PC - Popular Mechanics Review
Popular Mechanics has published a very interesting comparison of Apple desktop and laptop performance compared to equivalent PC equipment. In almost all cases the Mac outperformed its PC partner and scored higher ratings in user tests as well.

The review is interesting because it compares similar hardware (easier now Macs run on Intel chips) performing similar tasks. Leopard scored higher than Vista in usability and performance. Running Vista on Macs also scored higher in performance in almost all cases (than running Vista on PCs).

It's worth reading all four pages of the review and looking in detail at the specs - and the prices, which gives lie to the long-standing myth that Macs are more expensive. The laptops, whilst slightly different specs, are the same price and the Mac desktop is $300 cheaper than the similar Gateway used in the test.

Son, you are living in a dream world. Several of my friends have Quad core pcs and my old G-4 with motorola chip outruns them in every respect. Unlike you I am not in the sales business, so I have no reason to fabricate things here. The new intel dual processor Macs will fly right past any custom built pc and all you have to do is search the web and find the mac vs pc shootouts. :D
