Excess calories turn to fat although protein because of the way it's metabolized is less likely than fats or carbs.
The majority of protein digestion takes place in the intestine which can handle b/t 300-400 grams so it's unlikely that you will eat to much protein in any one meal. Whenever you read that the body can only handly 30-50 grams at a time, the article was written by someone who hasn't a clue and is following the myth.
So that you don't feel discomfort you may not want to exceed 100 grams or so per meal.

I don't think I can put away anywhere close to 100 grams of protein, but thanks for clearing this myth up.

I have a shake post w/o 50-60 grams then go home and eat another 60-70 grams isn't really to hard when you're on low carbs.

many people can consume 100's of grams a day of protein . the key is to slowly up the protein intake so the body can adjust , if you go from 50 to 300 grams a day of protein your stomach will hate you .

This is really good to hear...since I always thought it was 30-50 grams too. Lifts...Are their any studies that you can provide that back up what you are saying?

i thought around 80 gram was the most the body can use at one sitting

Yeah there a bunch of studies, medical articles etc. I had limited time and was unable to locate a few that I was looking for. Also studies on pulse feeding show greater N2 retention with 1 or 2 large meals rather than multiple smaller meals. I'll try to locate something when I have more time.

A note to remember a 100+ grams in a single meal may cause gas and bloating and make you feel like crap for a bit. I handle 100 grams w/o problem though provided it's clean and low fat.

dunno if its bullshit but reason why ill have to agree with lifts is(n i dont think they bullshited cuz they had a good reference as well as good facts to back it up)i read in one of the most recent FLEX magz that its almost unlimted when it comes to putting as much protein in your body at one time. you will feel like a blimp and maybe shit your ass off but that it is possible to consume many grams of protei at once....

i dunno, i would like to no more as well. cuz theres a big debate on that.

but either way in my opinion i think probably only 1 out of 5 dedicated weightlifters anyways have 1.the to control to consume that at once 2. the investment(good deal of money every week on food)3. and dedication(not gaining 50 pounds of fat instead of muscle) cuz that aint easy to consume that many grams of protein and food

unless your lifts of course..but we all aint that genetically gifted:smoker:
