NASSER EL SONBATY SHOULD'VE BEEN CROWNED 1997 MR OLYMPIA

Damn i miss the shows back then!

Nasser did get screwed over in most of the shows he did.

Even though nasser looks kickass here, yates just has that grainy look/condition, added with his shape and size that is just hard to compete with. Looking at the show in it's entirety i do think yates won.

I'm just glad i'm not a judge, definitely not an easy job.
 
You smoking crack today or what, though he may have got him on a couple poses, there is no way in hell he beat him in any back pose or overall stage presence. Dorian was granite hard and Nasser simply wasn't. I was there, it was the first Olympia I ever attended in the LBC and Dorian just dominated Nasser. I think he got in Nasser's head and took him out of it. It could have went either way, I will say that, but to beat the champ you have to beat him by a large margin and Nasser simply didn't do it. But to Nasser's credit, he is one of the most well spoken nice guys of the sport and this sport needs more guys like him for sure.
 
backs look similar and Dorian biceps are MIA ,specially from the back.
 
From the back pose, I like Yates' back, hams and calves. Nasser clearly has the better arms though and his waist was a little more narrow.
 
Nassers hams are more define and fuller..dorian has great calves but fuck look at Nassers too..nothing to envy there.

They're two big dudes no doubt. I'd take either of their size and definition any day. Nasser is a great guy too, met him at the Arnold one year
 
Dorian was a great champ , no doubt and introduced the big , insulin- gh , igf gut - blocky physique to the sport but he lost 3 of his 6 O's titles to Levrone, Shawn Ray and Nasser respectively.
 
I spoke to a guy who knew Dorian personally, he told me that he once asked him..
"What's the secret, what does it actually take to get that size and win an Olympia title?"

Yates replied....
"How much do you want to spend?"

Go figure....

Let it go man, apples and oranges man. Dexter won this year so you should be oh so happy about that.

Not really.. ..I honestly had Phil winning the show...but hey better Dexter's physiques than Jay's..and i hate Dexter and i like Jay so go figure.

I was not at that show, but I have seen them both in peak condition and Dorian was definately the more imposing when they were both in their prime.

I like Jay Cutler....dissapointed he lost this year. :(
 
i agree too heath is coming along really solid.. that year off was the best thing he has ever done for his body.. i was really thrilled he got top 3 hes gonna be just evil to be up against from now on i think
 
and the word is he's gonna skip the Arnold and just train for the 09 Olympia..if he makes the same improvements of last year is gonna be LIGHTS OUT

no doubt..he couldve took Dexter out this year probably. I wasnt too sure if I liked Phil till the O', he made me a fan. I hope Dennis Wolf improves as well and doesnt start to get a gut. He looked off at the o but still better than most who were there. And these threads are hard to compare pictures in. Because it seems like in every thread and video you find they look different. Lighting, if their camera had a flash, angles, etc.
