Personal Trainers?

I was after some info on the marketing side and what else you guys did apart from bread & butter taking clients in a gym and advising on diet. When I'm qualified I'm planning on setting up a weight loss class, aimed at less well off women with kids, you know the ones, can't really afford to get to a gym or hire a PT, kids to look after, house to run etc. Over here, there's quite a few already set up but, basically, they're shit and only after the ???. I'll make my money from the oil industry as I'll also be offering a service to the big companies, don't want to put too much down here on a public forum but I'm going to change the way they think about the health of their workers.

ANyway, any info on the general day to day stuff would be cool.

I worked at a gym, but was independent of the gym. I paid a monthly fee to use their equipment for my clients. The majority of my clients were professional people who trained with me three to four times a week, many remained clients for years.

Thanks Lifts, doing that here would cost a fortune as the gyms want you to work for them. I'll hopefully have a new house in a month or two and it's got a massive garage (by Scottish standards!) which I'll be converting into a private gym. I've done online searches for PT in my area and they charge between ?30 & ?50 p/hour, I can easily compete with that as I'm not quitting the offshore game.

I have a friend in town who makes his sole living as a PT in a small gym located in his basement.

Eventually, I would like to do this, as well as establish myself as a First Aid Instructor but the new mortgage is going to be close to ?1000 a month, so I'll have to stay on the rigs until PT can at least equal my salary.

I worked at a senior center doing a group lifting class. I just had posters made and put them up in the center. worked really well for me, but then again I am also a real charmer

Basically if the clients enjoy the worout inwhich you put them through and the results they recieve from your training your going to get people talking about your prices and how good your training is for the money etc... word of mouth is one of the best advertisments in the game...and its free!!!

I am licensed but dont use it any more. No money to be made down here.
