Well i finally got certified and think Im about set. I plan on going independent, I shouldnt have too much trouble as I would pretty much have the entire market to myself here. All I was curious about was client consent forms and physician evaluations? Should I require every client to get a physical and doctors release? Or just leave that up to their own discretion and get them to sign a consent form so they cant sue me lol.

Of course I can see it being important to know of medical conditions and medications. but Im not a doctor..I dont know if I make them do a squat theyll keel over from a heart attack or something. Any tips?

I would suggest that each client have Doctor approval, but would require a consent form. Also you can purchase liability ins. which protects you up to 1mil per incident, for a couple hundred per year. Most
PT certification programs can direct you to insurers who offer group rates to PT's.

Over here, we have a ParQ questionairre which covers previous injuries and/or health conditions which each client is required to sign. They also state that any false information given on the form negates liability and that can cover you.

ive been certified through 3 different associations and trained part time off and on for about 5yrs. it got to be more of a pain in the ass than profitable in this area though. lazy unmotivated people who dont want to spend money on getting in shape. so now i just offer my help to a select few. focus solely on myself and my training...decided to prep and actually do some shows. whatever you do iron dont let training some pinhead get in the way of your training and goals. you gotta worry about number one! ive seen it happen to some people. just my a little advice.

anyway back to your question...inusrance is definately a big must. just to cover your own ass. trust me. and like lifts said its cheap. about 300 a yr for 1mil coverage. I can get you info on getting insurance if you need i should have it laying around somewhere. Any place i trained, gym or independently, clients filled out a short questionaire describing any major health problems and medications and signed it. just as a liability issue. on your first few sessions you will get a feel for the person and their abilities and get a background from them.

hope this helps

did u get your certification in sexy too?

dude I just put that up for you? Cropped off all the good stuff though..party:

Thanks guys for the advice. yeah liability ins. should definately be my next step. As far as training a bunch of douchebags, if it turns out to be that way I'll just get rid of them and look elsewhere. Or move to a bigger city if necessary. Thats why I wanted to go independent. So I wouldnt be tied down by some sell out gym stealing my profit and trying to be my boss.

its strange..I was watching the local news and the bank said the economy around here is showing small signs of decline. but the retail business has gone up 2% lol. So hopefully that means people are willing to spend money on unnecessary shit to try to take off the stress. guess I'll see :ikini:
