On the highway and traffic slowed to under 10 MPH, then BAM/crunch, I'm thrown back but hold on and keep the bike up. Then the guy pulls right up behind me in a mini-van. WTF, I can't go ballistic, I'm wearing full shield, padded jacket gloves and boots. I got his info after a few me-no-speeky-englay's. Fernandez or something that rhymes with it. They live near me, I'm going to leave a note at his house with the cost of parts and ask if he wants to claim it or not? Thank goodness I always ride forward and thank goodness for the rear rubber tire, nice shock absorber!

Took that better than I would have. I'd probably have knocked his teeth out then put a motorcycles are everywhere sticker across his bleeding broken mouth hole.

lol BT.

im glad you are alright MR!
but for the record you werent thrown back! your bike was actually pushed forward which gave you the feeling of going backwards,, when really you went forward at a lesser velocity than your tricycle!
man im feeling all physically minded today, :D

I hate sitting at a red light with traffic still coming up behind me. A friend was killed coming home from Sturgis. Rode several thousand miles there and back and was killed about 10 miles from his house by a drunk driver rear ending him.

Buf, I hate to hear of stories like that!! It was my mistake for not watching behind me. A classic mistake for people on motorcycles. I heard him approaching but thought, "Oh, he'll stop!" Then Bam. I was more pissed at myself. I always ride defensively, that drivers in vehicles can't see me, and I have to have a 360 degree awareness at all times. We were almost stopped and I let my guard down. Like my friend said, "I hate traffic jams, as soon as traffic slows out come the cell phones for texting." Yeah no shit. Next time I'll 360 my area. On a good note, another testament to the ridability of a BMW, the rear fender is crash-proof and was designed partly to absorb shock in a collision. Amazing, these bikes were designed to keep one on the road. I stopped by his house with an estimate from the dealer and a copy of a parts list from an internet supplier. He could see what things cost. I told him I just want a new rear brake housing/unit, because the present one is now cracked and will leak which won't pass inspection. He agreed to pay the $300 by Saturday. I think he was surprised to see me at his front door and I'm sure I looked 3 times as crazy without my helmet and sunglasses on. We'll see. I still got in 90 miles yesterday, that makes a 3-day total of over 265 miles. Lot's of bugs in my teeth as well;) That's how you can tell a happy motorcyclist!

Oh, I have that printed on a big flag I hang off my sissy-bar, because they couldn't see the one on my back with my back-pack and all!
