I wanted to tell you about a worth while cause that I am donating time and money to this year, the Special Olympics.
A friend of mine has an autistic son who is competing in the games this year and he asked me to lend him a hand in supporting the cause. At the end of February the parents, friends, and families of Special Olympic athletes are holding a "Polar Bear Plunge" in Seaside, New Jersey. This is where people jump into the icy cold winter ocean for donations to help the cause. Obviously, every plunger is looking for sponsors to help the cause.
If you have any doubts about supporting the Special Olympics I will tell you a little more about them. In New Jersey the Special Olympics made it possible for over 17,000 athletes to have year round training, coaching, lodging, and transportation to and from events. The Special Olympics does all of this for the athletes at no cost to the athlete. This is why your donations are so important.
If you have any doubts about where you money is going I can put your mind at ease. A very nice woman from the Special Olympics sent me the 2007 financial report, as its too early for the 2008 report to be completed. This is the breakdown of every dollar that you donate:
80 cents goes directly to the athletes.
14 cents goes to fund raising events like the Polar Bear Plunge.
6 cents go to administrative costs.
I am asking that you show your generosity and donate to this worthy cause. Every dollar counts and every donation, large or small, is appreciated. If every member of this board donated even one dollar we would have made an enormous difference in the lives of these athletes.
Donations are payable by credit card, debit card, electronic check, or pay pal. Please click on the link below to show your support for the Special Olympics of New Jersey.
