Ok, this new "Cap and Trade" legislation has either: just went off the deep end, or found a way to get money for every pet project ever imagined.
A key component of this legislation, that the purveyors of this bill want to do, is tax the release of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Here's the problem (or their solution) who makes CO2? We do, and every other air-breathing animal on this planet. We will have to pay tax to breath? Hellooooo!

I want to say, "Where's my pitchfork," (but don't want to be labeled a right-wing extremist)...veteran, you know;)

So you want to have two or three kids, and you hope for a tax refund...ding, ding, ding, sorry Charlie, remember going for those bike rides on the boardwalk during your vacation? Yeah, well, you were breathing pretty hard, and as a result, were exhaling a serious amount of CO2. Yeah, that's right, you are contributing to global warming, so you will have to "Buy" some extra CO2 credits (from the non-breathers).

Yeah, and remember putting your kid on the soccer team? Yeah, he was out of shape and boy was he breathing. People were passing out because they couldn't get their ozone. Yeah, that's right. The CO2 your kid was putting out was above and beyond, you know, your cap. So fork it over, bub.

And I tell you, we don't even want you breathing around here, got it? Or guess who's gonna pay?
Yeah, folks, that's right, keep holding your breath.

thats a pretty lame argument against some legislation that could help reduce pollution.

China has doubled its coal-burning power plants since the 1970's. Here's a cool article from the New York Times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/11/b...=e9ac1f6255a24fd8ei=5088partner=rssnytemc=rss

Also, China has already stated they would not be involved with any plan to "cap" CO2 emissions. India reported the same thing.
Here's an article with statistics:

How about this one: Obama CO2 tax hits "the most vulnerable."

You should know how this will play out, do you?
Here's how it will play out:
Companies buy "Caps," for their CO2 emissions,
they pass costs down to consumers,
all energy costs increase, (for companies and consumers)
this will cause the cost of production for all products to increase, (Gross Domestic Product will decrease, allowing further need for government to "absorb" the losses, with our tax dollars),
this will force undue financial strain on everybody (except the rich because they will be able to itemize the deduction)
these increased costs will especially affect the American poor and aged.
A need state is therefore created which will allow the congress to appropriate credits and subsidies for that demographic,
but not for the middle class, who will be saddled with the cost of saving the world.
Yippee, let China and India make all the CO2 they want, let the American middle class pay for it!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
How's that for a lame arguement?

I have one question for you:
If "Global Warming" is a direct result of the burning of fossil fuels by mankind,
how did the ice melt from the last glacial maxim of 22,000 to 18,000 YBP?
(Note: the ice over the now British Isles was over 2 miles thick).

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
How's that for a lame arguement?

you did better this time around, that whole being taxed for breathing was complete nonsense.

if cap and trade is so bad, how come its been doing just fine in the EU?

You're joking, right?
Cap and trade is not doing well in the EU. The governments are pandering to special interests and the auto manufacturers. Check the facts. Cars, according to their engine displacement and proposed CO2 output, will be taxed. Money raised and special interests suited.
It's happening in Germany right now.
-people upset about the burden saddled on the middle class
-mercedes targeted as one of the biggest offenders for CO2 emission
(do you really think all the rich people in the EU who drive Mercedes are actually going to pay this tax?) Ha!
-Besides, no significant CO2 reduction has been documented
and even if it were...there is debate in the scientific community about whether CO2 is, or can be, documented accurately at all.

Did Al Gore's "mentor," his science teacher who "opened his eyes" on the deleterious effect of excess CO2 emission, back in the 1950's, ever send up a high altitude balloon with testing equipment to get accurate readings of CO2 in the Stratosphere? (that's where the ozone layer is) And what testing equipment was/is accurate? Who reads the results? What is their connection with who stands to profit (financially)?
Or did he just stand on the street and hold out the meter while those gas guzzling 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's four-wheeled boats chugged on past?

I only have two questions when it comes to the concept of global warming:
1) Who stands to benefit financially? And,
2) What is their connection to the politicians who are trying to pass the legislation?

The answers to those two questions will unfold a whole new reality.
