Well I did it, got my first gym membership since injuring my knee in April 2015. Two and a half years is the longest period without a gym membership since 1979. Had my 40th HS Reunion last Friday and I realized that regardless of my failings (perceived or otherwise) 39 years of avid weightlifting had easily made me the most muscular person there. Even though I was 100 pounds lighter then, I realized I had developed a base since that others could only dream of, and in my present attempt to reclaim my life, that needed part required attention. Hernia, knee pain, unhealed ankle fractures, arthritis, cancer be damned, the times beg the question, "What have you done lately?" Well, I intend to find out. I give myself 6 months!

Spring Equinox Goal

Spring Equinox Goal

In days of yore, the cold months were for bulking up, but the smart lifters used it to cover up and curb their training to the shape they wanted to become in Spring. In my 15 years experience working in and around gyms I would always shake my head at the droves of new members in Apri arriving to "get in shape for Summer!" Like one month was ever enough. Today I had my first workout in 2 1/2 years, and to be honest, I didn't expect much, but something happened. Amongst the bustle of the center I worked in slowly, starting with shoulders like Steve Reeves used to preach, because, "They are the small joints supporting all upper body mass movements!" The old pains were gone and I was flexible and moved freely on the wide grip behind neck press. Supersetted with behind neck pull downs I quickly got into the old groove. I did this for a volume superset for 10x10, followed by 4 other 10x10 supersets of shoulders and upper back. A 1000 reps total, amazing, no discomfort at all. Evidently, lifting, bending and moving steel and aluminum for 8 months at my job did wonders for conditioning. As I walked out I realized I was already in a good position, 6' and 255lbs of old muscle, conditioned and ready for volume training, so here's my goal for the Spring Equinox (March 20, 2018), to complete 200 super sets; that's 40,000 reps in 162 days, that simple. My definition of a superset is two opposing muscle groups on the same plane, 10 sets of 10 each; one after the other, no rest other than moving to station to station. I am already a new man. Eventually my strength will return, but for now, conditioning is King! What's your Spring goal?

The question was..."did you get any?" Not can you ramble on about stuff we don't give a diddly about and makes you look even more like the psycho you are. :)

I attended an all male orphanage for 11 years. The answer to your question I a flat out "No!" (And thank goodness for that!) on a positive note, my new neighbor has her 23 year old girlfriend nanny her kids and she's cute. I asked her on Sunday, "So, is that your grill?" She said, "No, she's not my girl!" The nanny said, "He said grill not girl!!" It was funny!
Other way, things are looking up!
