Was taking the kids to the car and the 7 year old said, "E-YUU!"
I said, "What?" Then went over and said, "E-YUU!"
It was intestines from some animal, about 8 inches by 8 inches, still bunched up. I thought, "Whaaa?"
No blood trails, no other meat, and all centrally located in about a foot by a foot.
My first thought was the wife left the cat out.
Then I thought maybe a neighbor cat or dog got hit by a car, crawled into the yard, then a Hawk ripped out the exposed intestines and took off with the carcass, but there was no sign of this on the road or across the yard?
I don't get it.
Maybe a Hawk swooped down on a rabbit, tore out its guts, then took off with the carcass?
Luckily I called the wife and she said she didn't let the cat out, but I haven't seen it all day.

Any guesses as to what or how it happened?
Luckily it was trash day so I shovelled it up, put in a bag, then dumped it, whew! Yard still stinks like hell though.

Mystery solved! I noticed there was a tire track leading right over the guts, so here's what I guessed:
(Because we live in an association, we have lawn guys who mow within 15ft of the house)
Ok, so the lawn guy rode the tractor lawnmower around a corner and a rabbit froze in fear,
the lawn guy (being Mexican and not able to speak rabbit) didn't notice and ran it over with the wheel.
This split the gringo rabbit's guts out and severed them.
After this, the rabbit either: was stuck in the wheel-well and skirted off to Mexico,
or fell by the wayside and was picked up by a Hawk or such.
Any questions? Adios, Bugs-a-bunny!
Rabbits, we don't need no stinking rabbits!
