Here was the scene: working late putting in a tile floor so the edge would be ready for the carpet guys the next day.
It was 4:59 AM and I had been working since 7 PM the night before.
I'm on my last tile, the lights flickered, then the whole house went out.
Argh! I thought, "What the...I just put a 200 Amp system in!"
I went to get a flashlight and noticed the neighbor's (in fact the whole neighborhood's) lights were out as well. Blackout!
I put in the last tile by flashlight, slept two hours, and barely creaked into work the next day. It was a rough ride to and from work, but the floor's in, yahoo!!!
PS: Now the carpet's in as well...oohhh...cushy!

look at the bright side , as soon as your finished it will be time to remodel lol . keep hanging in there bro , you have more patience than me .

Its funny how certain parts of the country think carpet is so different and comfy and cozy and other parts think it is just common place.....Here in Cali, pretty much every house and apt. has carpet throughout(except kitchen and bathrooms), and hardwood floors are the nice upgrade and hard to come by in homes that are newer than 50 years old......I myself want to put hardwood floors in my home, but the wife does not, so i guess its a no go, but i would love to put cherrywood floors everywhere except the bedrooms and bathrooms.....

...cherry is beautiful. Also, when you're ready for the kitchen and bathroom, you'll want Teak in those!

I just have big 20 inch tile in the kitchen and bathrooms so i would leave those alone...Not to mention wood around plumbing scares me a bit.....

i hate carpet it collects to much dust and i am allergic to that. Damn no ephedrine or caffeine and you were up all those hours

We only have carpet in one room of the house, the family room which is on the same concrete pad as the garage.
How I stayed up, well, I was determined, I was playing Russian Trance Radio, and I had beer! (Oh yeah, don't forget the deadline of carpet coming in!)

Hardwood collects dust to, the only difference is you can really see it on the hardwood...The carpet tends to hide it much better....

yeah...you can see the dust and shit on hardwood unlike carpet...most my house is either tile and hardwood...its actually a bit harder to clean and looks dirtier more often

^^^ yup, the only real negative to hardwood imo......gotta dust that shyte all the time....And the darker it is the more often you break out the swiffer sweeper...:D
