I just went to get my first gun. All went well with the check except it was flagged for 'delay'. The shop owner said that NICS never tells them the reason for a delayed check. Under Ohio Law, only people convicted of a felony, use or sale of drugs, or a fugitive from the law are disqualified from gun ownership.
The only thing on my record is a disorderly conduct charge from more than four years ago for getting in a fight. My question is, would that have an impact on my gun ownership rights? It was only a $200 fine. Also under Ohio law, if you have a misdemeanor it is supposed to only matter if it occurred within three years of the purchasing time.
So does anybody here know whether an M1 misdemeanor will negate me from owning a gun? According to law it shouldn't, I just don't know why NICS delayed my background check
