My heart goes out to those in Texas, but being in Florida we've got our own issues right now. I've lived in Florida most of my life, since 1960. I e been through many hurricanes. The most recent bad ones for my area was 2004 when Charlie hit August 13th, Francis hit August 27th, then Jean hit September 10th, each one exactly 2 weeks apart. Charlie messed up my house and a tornado ripped a path through my woods and pasture. Then Frances and Jean added insult to injury. 4 weeks with no electricity, 2 weeks with no waster. It sucked.
But this hurricane coming up worries the snot out of me. And I don't scare. Fear isn't an emotion I understand the way normal people do. But this has me preparing for sure.
Remember Texas in your prayers if you're prone to pray. But remember Florida too. This one's going to be bad!

In the zone to be hit as well not as bad as you guys. Hopefully Irma is just hyped up and not another Harvey. That would be a once in a thousand year type catastrophe geez...

Having said that, what are your thoughts on geoengineering, HAARP, weather manipulation? Some out there are considering it a possible cause in the destruction harvey wreaked on one of the major cities in this country.

Supposedly the cool front we got coming in is supposed to push it away but he all know how Silly Bob the weatherman can be....

Stay safe fellas. If you can get out do it. Wish you the best.

Don't know how you southerners do it.... hope you all stay high and dry

Just look after the wife old friend things will work out.

It's looking worse for us. Projecting cat 4 through the middle of Florida. We're screwed. I'm as prepared as a prepper getting ready for the apocalypse . The hurricane itself, and the tornado they spawn are bad enough. But the weeks following while utilities get restored is the hard part.
Another consideration, Andrew leveled concrete block houses. In the middle of the state you're golden in a concrete block houses during a hurricane. But this hurricane lane is stronger than Andrew and moving fast.
If you don't hear from me for a few days, phone service i s usually out for a week or so. Sunday and Monday are our worst days here. So keep us in your thoughts on those days. Thanks guys.

What part of florida are you in. My father is in leesburg. I'm gonna wire him some dough so he can get out far enough where he'll be ok. He lives in a retirement mobile home park, so I told him he has to go.

My mother was in Leesburg before I moved her up with me. Still have her hurricane kit. Good luck all Floridians and others in the line of fire. The shit gets real when it happens I know. Having seen tornados march down an adjacent street to mine watching trees snap off and fly away. Shit like this makes you wonder if there is a God and he is really pissed off.

Mother nature is an unstoppable force and gives me chills sometimes. Yes I believe there is a plan but this destruction is not of God.

Florida people I will be thinking and praying for your situation. Fear nothing except God.
We've experienced devastating damage to our home in the past and basically this area is a little flood zone. Except 10 years ago it was NOT like this..

It's all over but the waiting now boys. We've done as my h as we can do to prepare. Now it's Irmas turn. I'm not feeling good about this. With the storm shifting to the west the projection is that the eye will pass right over us. Projection is 90 mph sustained winds, gusts up to 120-130 mph. My main concern is i hope i still have a roof on my house when this is all said and done.

My Sister lives a mile 1/2 from the beach south of Ft. Lauderdale and coulndn't get out as her husband was helping friends and neighbors "batten down the hatches!" Interstate 95 is right West of her, might offer some protection, then might not. Fingers crossed for Floridians!

Ft Lauderdale is going to be fine. The storms coming across from the west coast now. It's passed miami.

It's been raining since yesterday nonstop. Winds are about 30 mph steady with gusts up to 75. Expecting 90 mph steady winds with gusts up to 110 from 7pm until 4 am. The fun is about to begin.
My power has gone off briefly twice already and this is nothing yet.
This is going to suck.

Not sure if this will post. Internet and Spectrum cable down county wide. Had 95 mph sustained winds from 10 pm till 2 am with 115 mph gusts.
My house did fine. Animals all ok. Horses are pissed off because I wouldn't let them in. Their shelter Not really a stable but water and sweet feed troughs gone. My shed in my back yard gone. But not even a shingle missing from my roof. Power went off for good a little after 10 pm sunday night. Not expected to be back on until sunday or monday. Im just very glad we have running water. I see all these people lined up at gas stations and i just think did uou not believe the weather man? I stocked up on gas. Have 50 gallons in cans.
We're touging it out without the generstor this time. It used too much gas. 5 gallons is roughly 8 hours. It sucks but we're hanging so far. Slammed with work right now due to peoples misfortunes. But in the end we fix whats broken.
But all in all we were very fortunate.
Now, let's see if this posts.

I'll be through it when I get some efn electricity. I.e. of Th he draw backs of countr y living.

Smart man! Wisdom gained from experience draws greatly from slowing down! Stay in there!

Still no lectric. Its friggin hot! Sweat all night long and not from having fun. Been sleeping about 3 hours a night. It started raining an hour ago. I took my clothes off and went for a naked walk in the rain. The lightning was a bummer. But still it felt so good. If it's still raining when my old lady gets home I'll strip her down and take her for a walk.
This morning there was a huge hog walking down the street. My old lady hot a picture of it. I would have shot it but with no electric it would have beenvwasting a life and about 200 lbs of good meat.

Rural living bad on electricity but good on being able to piss outside when you want and walk around nekked when ya want, lol
