I stop training quads/hams for a year with ANY exercise that will add size - no squats, leg press, hacks,sldl etc. I won't even do those exercises with light weights & high reps bcoz some guys add size with high reps, and that's the last thing I want. I actually try to lose a bit of size in the quads if possible, even if it means spending a shitload of time on the bike, stepper, or treadmill. I stick with lunges which are thee best movement to shred the upper quads, and also glutes (when low bf of course). I want my quads shredded from knee to hip, like Arnold had - nobody had better upper quad separation than the King. I want my glutes peeled like Dex. I keep doing for the upper body as what I've been doing. I hammer my calves like never before - I'm hitting them like Arnold did back in the day for a year straight, 6 days a week.
