Check this out, When Dad died I tried to cash in his burial insurance and both phone numbers on the policy had been disconnected after searching the net and finding on google over 100 people in the same boat..
Everyone was trying to reach them to cash in a burial or life insurance policy to no avail...
So after trying to contact Universal Life Insurance Co for months and months I gave up thinking they either filed bankruptcy or was some fly by night outfit that screwed everyone out of their cash and had phones turned off.. I didn't even know if policy was good since last payment was made in 1986..
But 15 months after Dad's death I got a letter at Mom's first of Oct addressed to my dad stating another company had bought out the insurance company and a couple other companies and would be handling dad's account and if I was still making payments send them to this address below and if I had any questions to call customer service..
So I called and a told this lady the whole deal and said she needed to pull his records and call me back in 2 days..
Hell I waited 3 weeks, we're I was so busy taking care of Mom I actually forgot so I called back last Monday and spoke with another little girl who said she had no record of me even calling and the other lady didn't put anything in the computer, I thought oh boy here we go again, but she assured me that she would pull his records and call me back in 2 days, So Wednesday she called back and said she was sending me a beneficiary claim form to fill out and send back with a copy of his death certificate and my power of attorney and when she received it she would mail me my check for 15k..Which was a blessing since I had paid for Dad's funeral myself to help out Mom..
So I guess all these years of doing the right thing and helping everyone else without asking anything in return is starting to pay off...
This is just one of several good things that's happened recently, now if I could just get my little mother better and back home from hospital everything would be whole again...
