Signed my 7 year old up for the swim team. She placed in the top three seven times in swim meets her first three weeks.
She has placed first 2 times in backstroke, 2nd 3 times in freestyle, 2nd once in butterfly (her first time swimming it) and 3rd once in breaststroke.
She's been on the team shy of three weeks.
Now that she is qualified to swim in the B and C Championship meets, they told me since she didn't register before the season she is not on the roster and can't swim in championships.
I know rules are rules but damn, she's all prepped to swim in championships and get some ribbons. How do I break this to her? She'll be devistated.
It was probably a disgruntled parent whose kid got bumped.
Next year she will, "CLUSHHH ZE OPPOSITION!!!"

Just tell her straight and hope itr spurs her on to train harder for next year and she really will blow them away!!!

Thanks Scot, I took your advice and she took it fairly well. Later she told me, "You know, dad, I will be winning a lot of races next year!"
That's my girl!

Good man, I know she's only 7 but it's obvious she knows all about competing so she'll have a mature head on her shoulders for a 7y/o and would be able to take it better. And judging by your posts on here, you're not going to be raising a spoilt brat either!
Everyone knows that we learn more from our mistakes but we also learn from letdowns, your daughter has been letdown so she'll learn from this and become a stronger charachter and, hopefully, a better swimmer!
