How many of you older folks have much younger kids? I'm 57 and have 3 kids; a 19 year old son who doesn't give a shit (or so he pretends), he's just as awnry as I was at his age. May have something to do with the fact that his mom died six years ago. Then I have two daughters to my ex-wife; 16 and 11. Both are great kids; smart, athletic, well-behaved and true blessings. Beside that the 16 year old is sneaky, emotional and manipulative (like her Mom) but she's also boy-crazy, so I don't take it personally. The youngest is 11 and there are 46 years between us, but we are like 2 peas in a pod. Her face is like mine, body the girl edition and temperament? What a blessing. We spent 5 hours last night reading old books together. No TV, music or anything. She annoys me because she tells stories that last forever but never gets to the point (just like me) snark! So funny, and what a blessing. We practice math problems, fly drones, shoot bow n arrow and tell stories; an old soul. I'm her best coach in swimming too. Yesterday she broke her best 50 backstroke time by 1:20 seconds, and her best 50 butterfly time by 2:98 seconds, amazing this late in the season. She's now in the top 15 in both for the (very competitive) league. What a blessing, especially at my age. Yeah, it's good to know I did something right, but do I just feel this way because I'm so close to 60? Btw, she never asks me to buy her anything even though I offer all the time, but instead she is very subtle. I had her in horse-back riding the past 3 years and bought her riding pants 6 weeks ago, but evidently got her English riding pants. She prefers to ride Western, which requires a different type of riding pants called jodpers. Last night she had my phone. Today I opened my internet to her favorite riding store to a pair of Jodpers on sale for only $17. Wow, very subtle and unassuming. What a cutie (even though she never mentioned a word about them)? She's a Scorpio, whatever that means. Should I take the hint and order? Any of you have similar connections with your kids? Thanks for listening to this old fool!

My two sons 33 and 28 are assholes. But my three grandkids 3, 6, 7, are awesome.

I'm young and my kids are old enough to not me for anything other than cash and occasional coaching or guidance. When my baby of three graduates high school I'll be 46 years young.

Just order the kid the pants

I'm 41 (fuck you shovel) and have a 7 and 3 yr old. Just be a dad and buy the girl some pants don't be embarrass her around her friends and hate all the guys she dates

Already ordered the pants, she's a luv-luv!! That's cool though for you to have to express by example rather than demand! Respect! The 16 yr old likes a rower from out of town. I don't judge, let them love! Also I don't burst her dreams, but when my daughter said the boy looks forward to meet me I saw that as a result of her talking me up. That was cool! All is well!

Dude most days I think you're out of your mind but damn it man your a good father....RESPECT TO YOU.

40 for a little while longer, and I have a 13mo old and almost a 4 year old.

What you need to do when your son hits 21 is go to bars together and pick up college chicks. Now I suppose him and you could hit some college house parties, I would caution against high school parties.

My son is 33. When the wife and I visit it turns into a drinking binge. He drinks too much but works like 80 hours a week and makes good money, very rational and successful man. My daughter is 28 and struggling. She is strong but can't get a break. I worry about both of them still. I long for my daughter to come home and live with my wife and I for a little while.

Can I just call you dad and we both crash a college party anyway?

Evidently he and his friends party with a chick that used to hang with The Rolling Stones. I didn't even ask, but in retrospect when he graduated high school 1 1/2 years ago, my girls (his step-sisters) and I went with him on a 2 hour horseback trail ride up in New York and the svelt 19 year old trainer/guide was all over him. He's 6'1" lanky with blue eyes and needs no help from me. I make a good wing man as long as I keep my yap shut 😉!

Ha, yeah, a good wing man because I make my friends look good. Today is my best friend's (of 42 years) birthday, but he died this year on July 16th. Spoke to his older brother yesterday. Never made 58. RIP Keith! I was his Wingman that night at the club when he met his wife. Standing at the bar with beers, scanning, then, "Watch this," he said, and he walked away. Way down the bar was a cute, natural-looking blond, fumbling with a cigarette. Just as she got it to her lips, an arm popped out from the masses with a lighter fired up, she turned to match his gaze and I could see it. At the end of the night he saw me and thankfully I got a ride home, but they were married, I was the Best Man, and they had 3 kids, all of which have my number for times of need or mead (they're all over 21). Yeah, bein' a Wing Man ain't so bad! PS: Buff is a BadAss!
