just as i'm making mad progress in my 5/3/1,blowing the numbers out of the water,my lower back locks up on me last night while warming up for DL's...with the bar, lol!

i've been hitting 3-315x12-15-425x3-4 for the last few weeks.then last night with 135 on the bar my back said "oh no,not tonight buddy boy, hahahaha!"wasted night in the gym.

getting older has its benefits but also its pitfalls.what used to never bother me takes longr to warm up or gets injured faster.anyone else in the same boat?at 44 i feel like i'm 24,sometimes,but guess i just gotta realize i ain't the spring chicken no mo'.good thing i know how to listen to my body now...lol!

I did that a couple of weeks ago on the leg press pulled something in my ass warming up. hurt like a bitch for about a week then cleared right up.

I'm a mess right now. Back, knees, elbows, wrists, neck one shoulder. Did I miss anything?

Good for lower back pain or the swelling and pressure that comes from lower back stimulation can be helped with a water bottle. Fill it up and throw it in the freezer overnight. Pull it out before leaving for the gym and will you feel the tightness coming on, apply it to the area and it will constrict the vessels and relieve that tension

Getting old sucks, believe me. Aches and pains are ... a pain.
Whenever I have back pain I use a hot water bottle and I take either Ibuprofen or a muscle relaxant.

Im 47 and try to be careful. On one hand my body is stronger than it has ever been but one the other hand things can break or tear more easily. Ive found that rest is crucial as I get older. Can't cut it on 5-6hrs anymore must be 8 or 10-optimum.

have you taken any time off recently? i just finished up a week of no gym time at all to rest (well sort of rest)

Deca helps a lot also.:naughty:

I have non stop lower back pain and have had the L4-5 cut on 2 years ago this month. It really has slowed my back progress down to almost a halt but I keep grinding anyway. Used deca this cycle and not sure if it has helped or not but I kept telling my self it did. Lots of Ibuprofen in my cabinet...
Doc said I would be in a wheel chair the rest of my life if I ever drove a race car again or played softball again. Done both for about 16 months now and almost forgot...been throwing the iron around too, haha! I can't wait to see his face when I go in for a check up in two weeks! Hell yes I freaking hurt all over but I would still hurt if I didn't train ...46 years old and ain't stopping anytime soon!

Keep those hamstrings stretched.

Stretching.. Lots of it. I'm 48 and have torn more shit up this past year and yes.. Aging sucks.. BUT I'm not giving up or giving in. I have learned that I need to stretch a lot and warm up good before heavy lifting. I have L5-S1 herniated and limit what I do to the lower back. Best not play with that area.

I just went through that with squats last Monday. The back pump was so bad that I couldn't finish, and that was ok. I still got a good workout. The worst part is driving home after that. I'm 43 and my body still feels relatively good.
