IFBB Pro bodybuilder Phil Hernon has passed away among a string of tragic and sudden bodybuilding deaths.
More sad news hits the bodybuilding world today as it?s been reported that IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Phil Hernon has passed away. At the time of this writing, the cause of death has not been made public. Hernon is best known as the Mr. USA 1995 champion.
The news of Phil Hernon?s death was first reported by Muscular Development on their official Instagram. At this moment, there has been no official announcement on Hernon?s social pages, website, or made by family. The cause of death was not mentioned in the original report.

Phil could have gone all the way with his classically massive full belly muscles.
He, unfortunately, had some legal issues that probably ended his career. He was active for years over at Pro Muscle. He was always a professional in his posts and a gentleman. What a tremendous loss!!!

RIP. He was having health issues for sometime - kidney issues in past few years. I believe he was in need of a kidney. He also fought prostate cancer awhile back and beat it.

Make no mistake, Phil was a freak in his time, and no telling what he could have did in bodybuilding if it weren't for legal issues he faced in the mid-late 90's. And while Phil had many of friends, he also had many enemies. He was a controversial guy - if he liked you, he liked you, if not, he could be a complete ass. I mean no need to sugarcoat it - everybody knows this.

Unfortunately he showed his ass side here at peak a few years back and got banned for it. In his later years he promoted some rather eccentric training methods. I remember the topic - he came over claiming that training with bands EXCLUSIVELY, as in no weights, no machines, would build more muscle than traditional training with free weights & machines. Mind you, anybody in the game know that bands can be a great tool IN ADDITITON with weight training, but exclusively, really? Needless to say he got questioned about it and he threw a hissy fit, immediately attacking any doubters. Same thing happened at another board around the same time.

But end of that day, Phil was a phenom in his time and could have went far in bodybuilding. It's sad that he passed away too young, with a young daughter that he often posted vids with on FB. Condolences to his family. RIP Phil.

I understand the cause of his death was kidney and liver failure combined.

With the handful of recent deaths in the industry (there was a woman too just recently, cant remember her name) i have read through some of the posts om social media by pages such as generation iron and others, and in the comments section of these posts i find it amusing how many people are trying to link the recent deaths with "bad gear". Many of these guys had pre existing issues no doubt, and we all know the gear use didnt help, but people seem to be trying to make the case of a bad batch of gear or a common supplier being the reason for so many names to have just recently passed around the same time.

sad for his family and friends. I will not comment on my feelings about him. We will just say I feel for his family and their loss.

Wow. Another reason why it's such a wonderful investment to take care of the liver

Besides the herbs I've mentioned

Olive oil and Lemon Juice are my livers best friend.

A healthy liver makes for a healthy body.

I noticed Mountaindog (why do I keep wanting to call him Tom Platz?) What's this gentleman's name again?) Had liver spots all over his body before he died. Like a few years before his heart attack as well

Liver is the key. In the East they call it the seat of the soul. I'm sure they just mean the value it has to the body

Sad for his family. But he personally was a jersey. At least here he was. And I remember the bands comment. Also calling Dakots a fat ass. As well as selling fake peptides. Nice guy.

when the net was new and forums were something new i met and would talk to phil in the late 90s always helpful always telling people straight and always uplifting loved to joke around and i really liked his inside stories on bodybuildng back stage stuff ...just like another friend justin bigkiwi i will alway miss them both

how about those BOSU ball exercises? and yes he would find the cheapest peptides to sell. Like I said it is sad for anyone to pass away at such a young age and he left a young daughter behind but he was a dick and a thief.
