How do you know how many days your body needs to recover from your workouts?

I remember reading that the rule of thumb is at least 24 hours between two workouts and 48 hours to 72 hours before hitting the same muscle.

The past six months, I have hit the gym 3 times a week (EOD) but I wasn't making any progress and since last week, I hit the gym 5 times a week. I already have a tendency to overtrain, so I need your help/advice. Please check out my log and tell me if I'm doing too much or what I'm doing wrong. Thank you!

I normally hit the gym 6 days a week, I hit most muscle groups every third day except legs which I hit hard once per week.

most reading Ive done says 72hours before you work the same muscle group again

i think it also depends how hard you are training them as well but 72 hours seems right... but i used to train upper body eod and lower body eod a long time ago and i got decent results (my arms got amazing results for some reason) sooo i dunno i guess it depends on alot

I took a day off on Wednesday (my body really asked me to take it easy) and I won't hit the gym this week-end because I work both days anyway.

well for me, i was told by a credible source, that you wait 7 days before reworking a muscle again, this way it gets plenty of time to recooperate. i can tell a big difference when i dont wait 7 days in my strength but thats just what works more me.
im not givin you advice tho MG i was just stating useless info! ;)

just try different things and see what ur body likes the best cause everyone is different and has different training styles/ intensity soo rest will vairy for every1
