When I first saw this video on another board, I thought "what was the point of all the useless profanity"? Was it translated through the interpreter? But after watching it time and time again, I realized that in their country, apparently they are sheep. They have no backbone to support the beliefs that the preservation of themselves and their descendants is more important than what "group" of religious, racial of political factions they identify themselves to be with. I don't agree agree with the endless profanity by the soldier who was "in charge", but I don't disagree with his message that they are cowardly and won't stand up against those who killing their peers and descendants based on whatever crazy agenda they have over there concerning religion, etc.

HAH! I knew it wouldn't be long.
I've studied in my own mind the ramifications of his profanity vs. the actual message after watching the video over and over again. Just like I tell my own kids, one who is in Iraq and another that is stationed at Ft. Bliss and may be deployed to Afghanistan is that profanity is useless and carries no merit when it comes to getting any message across.
I don't disagree with his overall message one bit.
But when I first saw this video, all I though of was the useless use of f'ing this and GD that. He lost his overall message to me with his diatribe.
Personally, I doubt the interpreter included that in his translation.
The point I make to my kids and the resultant impact on their own kids is that profanity results in nothing but a lessening of their own credibility as a "thinking person".
To me, it would have sufficed easily if the soldier had referred to them as women, cowardly and lazy without all the extraneous profanity.
I could go on and on deeper into my beliefs about what is right or wrong but won't.
My own son stationed in Irag in Tal Afar close to Mosul stated that he would just look at the person who was his "superior" rank-wise who was cursing him out, yelling and degrading him, effectively dismissed them in his own mind. The profanity and attitude was lost on him and he knew what the real truth was.
Just like his reactions to idiocy, my beliefs that I have passed on to my kids is that regardless of how you perceive the tirades of those who are "ranked higher", decency is and always will be.
As far as this video is concerned, I upheld the message he had for those he was assigned to train. The language he used, whether translated or not was useless.
i believe the swearing and vulgarity were for him and his personnel to hear personally showing what he felt and his subordinates alike acknoweledged the frustrations as they did. And like you said the message probably did not come through on the translation as the same as that which came out of his mouth
